Yes, indeed. Great depth.

John, Akira and Frank - really nice shots to kick off October!
Last half of the day .. very rainy! I only managed to open my balcony door and take this shot when it was pouring down.. coffee, music and my sofa saved the rest of the afternoon.
-
Thanks Lars. That's a very atmospheric image of the starting Autumn.
-
Lars, thanks! What are these yellow stuff? Leaves turned into yellow, or some sort of flowers?
-
Thanks John and Akira - unfortunately not flowers Akira .. it is exactly what you suggest.

Thanks, Lars. It's not unfortunate, it's beautiful autumn color.

Thanks, Lars. It's not unfortunate, it's beautiful autumn color.
You are quite right Akira and thanks for reminding me! :) I have some ambivalence wrt. autumn - it is a colorful and beautiful season but it also means summer is over and days are quickly getting shorter. At this latitude, people suffering from autumn depression syndrome is not rare.
-
Lars. The view from your balcony suggests that we should meet in your garden.

That's a nice overview, Armando, those three people. One wonders what they are doing there ;)

Nice idea Frank - what you see is the end of my garden and where the park begins. Here is a "dry" shot from today without the heavy rain.

I agree. I'll post some other shots from this afternoon - posting the same shot from the balcony two days in a row seems a bit lazy ;)

hope you are better :)

Hope you are feeling better Frank.
Great spider shot Armando with good depth.
John - if that old Nikon could speak.. :) I have an old Minolta with a somewhat similar design - see below.
Werner - it feels like I'm not wearing my glasses ;)

That is lovely Elsa, it was just some discussion my body had with a little virus. Needed some sleep and uncomplicated edibles... I have some projects that need 110% attention. The 10% sometimes accumulate to let my body and soul need some rest...

This is the 70-210/4 Series E, the same optics as the 80-200/4, but can focus at 56cm at 70mm which makes it very versatile. Optics are great and combines well with 6T to reach nearly 1:1 magnification. And unbelievable cheap ;)

Armando - great sky on fire with the contours of the buildings!
Frank - you must have been dizzy after shooting #60 :)
John - indoor shooting in the cold weather .. same here ;)

Thank you,
these are Hokaido type squashes and are excellent for soups and other cooked dishes.
Cooking is not difficult when you work with natural ingredients,
Forget about recipes,
Remove the seeds inside, skin the squashes, cut them in smaller chunks and pieces.
Big pot, put a kettle for at least 1 liter ,2 pints, of water on.
I put strips of soaked kombu, this for stock, but you can use also stock from beef or whatever you like, on the bottom,
then the vegetables, i added onions, carrots, leeks, and ginger, bay leaves.
Pour in the boiling water from the kettle on top the vegetables,
and let it simmer until all vegetables are tender,
now add the salt not before.
Serve with freshly ground black pepper, and i use original, not the commercial, soysauce or shoyu,
for some extra flavour.
Please enjoy.
Aside one litre of water is probably not enough so you add more until all ingredients in the pot are well covered:).

-
Excellent table tops product images of nikkors, can you tell us how you do this, John.
-
Thanks Fons.
Very simple actually.
A two speedlight setup, left - right, (used the SB-24) triggered by a set of Yongnuo's. The height of the speedlights may vary depending on the subject or the intention.
For diffusing the speedlight there are many options, a cardboardbox, with the top and sides cut out and replaced by parchment or bakery paper. Or the Ikea Skubb box (salvaged a few from the waste bin) works very well, and can be flatfolded for transportation. But you can also diffuse with some papers or letters. ;)

yes it is ok, far corners never get sharp enough, maybe at f16, but most of it is sharp from f4 and on. Filter film can be installed in the back of the lens, but I never tried it
Since I got the 20mm f1.8 the fisheye gets very little use, I'm thinking about selling it, to bad we are so far

Thanks for the explanation Armando.
Difficult to tell Fons.
Is the D500 better than the Df?
The versatility of the 35/1.4 AIS

Better? No, different yes. More detail sharpness, me struggling to get the IQ right sofar.
Handling is a different class. The Df being a fx Mf camera, d500 a dx Af camera.
Though i have only been shooting like a few days, rethinking a lot of lenses also.
Anyone's got a 17-55/2.8 ;)?
-
I starkly underestimated the D500 in the beginning.
And, though I am still waiting in awe for a fifth gen full frame high res I must say that in most cases the D500 outperforms even the D600.
She has AF
She has superb ergonomics when you add the MB
She has WB like none before
She has color consitency to an extent not seen before in Nikons
She has speed reliability dependability in ways only seen with the one-digits before
Downside is a steep learning curve in the editing
Department. TRY NX-D on her! She is the perfect
Companion to this software.

Thanks, Fons.
Is it not just the DX were you are used to FX quality?

a bit blurred ...
motion or focus ?
or need better procesing ? I read Frank was initially having trouble processing the D500 files

Thanks, Fons.

My thoughts exactly, John, the D7100 is the cheaper option but lacks the machinegun staccato.

Lots of great shots posted :)
Lars i like the window shots best
The bw window is really nice. I like it.
Thanks Lars. Really nice that window, love that soft blue colour.
Thanks Fons, Thomas and John!
New expo in Museum De Pont. Some boring wall-work (in my opinion) But the (Japanes) garden was nice, specially for Lars looking for yellow flowers ;)
;D Thank you so much John - what a nice collection! That should be enough to get through to next spring. And you even added a few more nice thistle shots.
A shot from today ..

Tuesdays the entrance is no charge , although they charge for camera use, it is still free if you do photos with your cell phone ... This place is in downtown not an area that is not easily accessible for me, but I was there buying some stuff, went into the building a few minutes before closing time, I had the V1 and decided to try my luck not paying for camera use and shooting using the rear screen holding it somewhat as a cell phone ... no one bothered me

You must have used portrait mode, Armando, how many shots?

A shot from today ..
Wow Lars wow!! What a lovely composition, colors.

Hi, Sorry. I cannot follow the blog properly because I cannot see all attachments, neither on my own threads nor on the threads of others.
This problem started when I was in California and it affects all my browsers an devices, so not limited to OS or Software
-
John I really like the brilliance of the color on the lake shot, the ducks swimming underneath make the shot more attractive
The empty store has a nice red, but other than that I do not why you shot it ...
the studio shot I think is worthy to be in a catalog , technically excellent
-
Gorgeous pano, Armando! I prefer the second version.
-
Thanks Armando.
That empy shop shot was part of a series with vacant shops in the city-center. Not much room for creativity there as recognisability is the goal ;)
-
OK. As I could miraculously enter the site through the backdoor AND can see attachments, I will do a little roundup:
#217: I love the first one for its clarity and autumness, the second one for its clever construction, the third one for the artisianship. Welldone!!!
#211: In my book this is the proper way to use pano technology --- bringing the qualities of Large Format to smaller formats, creating real wide angle shots that give a real feel of the dimensions of a room and not only a symbolic one.
#210: Lars ... keep them coming. I love the daring emotional quality of your work
#208: I feel, Fons that with these tonal rich detailesd and colorful flower shots you are up to something...

Someone pulled the plug here? Sorry for not being with you for a while. I want to take up my daily routine very soon while searching for a new place to host our effort next year. It does not feel very good not being wanted, but I accept that. Remember: We are allowed to take this project to the end here on 31 December 2016. It is only after that that we need a new home for the project.
So, friends, lets shove it! Go, Team!

Nice silhouette Fons. Good that just a little bit of colour is left in it.
