Wineglasses on the ceiling
-
Today was yet another great NikonGear get together!
No new friends this time, just the old, the very young ones :)
El Presidente brought Nicole and myself a bit early to the meeting point.
Coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice and a croissant were ordered and then I got the camera out of the bag.
Hence my first shot was a selfie, D750 and 16/3.5 fish-eye (cropped a bit).
-
The NG bandits started arriving as did the rain.
Didn't bother me at all to mount the 135DC and produce some Manet 8)
-
I love both of your images, Jokov. A calm portrait and an artistic rush of "water colors"
Wild animals, possibly symbolizing the Evangelists form the end of the stairs here in Leuven University Library
Lille, Airy, we are coming!!!
-
The reading hall. Since PTLens is discontinued I do not really kow how to correct geometry properly, so you see some bending of lines in the outer parts of the picture.

Jakovic stikes again! Nice one Jakov.
I am really interested in more pictures, it couldn't only have been raining, could it 8)

the neutralized series...

Frank, I did not hear about PT Lens being discontinued. Where did you hear about this?

Frank, I did not hear about PT Lens being discontinued. Where did you hear about this?
Look at the site. Try to contact Tom. Silence. No update for ages. No reaction.
I have been sending him shots for calibration for years. He did react and integrate
them. Always and fast. I fear he is not well or has some other occupation.

Great shots, so sorry I could not be there.
I particularly like Frank's latest set, quite out of the ordinary.
Also Nicole's set just above.
Taking good photos of beautiful things is not so hard. Creating new art is harder.
-
Great shots. Here my first batch: Red and green, Joost, the library and a face.
I`ll be out for the week and will post over the weekend.
-
Another Manet :)
p.s. Airy are you ready?
-
some GREEN in the Botanical Gardens
Airy. Will you play the Organ for us?
-
I particularly like Frank's latest set, quite out of the ordinary.
Taking good photos of beautiful things is not so hard. Creating new art is harder.
Seeing things afresh is a gift of the moment.
Sometimes it hits us. Sometimes not. That
makes photography surprising for anyone
willing to open his/her eyes.
-
Bruno: I like how you relate the geometry of the book to
the geometry of the room.
-
Joost: I did not perceive the globes were so colorful.
The smell of wood dominated the room as if it was
calling to be photographed. The smell of books was
surpressed by the wood. Do globes smell?
-
Okay, the storm of enjoyable images from the meet-up again! Always great to see nice portraits of the participants.
So far I particularly like the second image from the post #15.
Looking forward to seeing more!

Wineglasses on the ceiling
Best up nose shot I have ever seen! Super ;)

Best up nose shot I have ever seen! Super ;)
Thank you, Erik. A crazy room in the back of a Tavern. Roof made of glass and Chandelier made of Wine glasses. I wanted a Selfieshot for my son and I edited a bit for symmetrie and my hair flowing into the chandelier
-
Okay, the storm of enjoyable images from the meet-up again! Always great to see nice portraits of the participants.
So far I particularly like the second image from the post #15.
Thank you, Akira. I have several versions of this situation and decided for this one because it shows the colored light on several different surfaces. I will post two more in a second
-
1) the light gets colored by color foil applied to the windows from outside
2) Nicole showed a picture including these metal name plates, here is my take on these
-
Best up nose shot I have ever seen! Super ;)
I fully agree!

Many nice pictures so far. My have to wait as I am travelling right now.

Hi everybody,
Frank thank you for your kind message.
Thank you also for the session of body building you offered me with your beautiful camera and the equal superb lense of Jakov :-)
The result isn't the height of the gift :-).
But .... I did it !
Thanks Bruno for your message with the link to the site.
I like lots of your pictures, the colors and the compostions of Joost and Frank, the interesting blurr of Jakov.
And now serious things are starting .... You'll find some of mine here.
See you later.
Heu just a question : Airy where are you ?

You're looking a little bit strange Frank, maybe diabolic ... No I can't believe it :-) you're so kind (I didn't joke you are) !
-
I was speeking about your first picture on the first page but the message comes only here :-)
-
Martine. Super energetic portraits & edits. Wow.
Can you teach me about photography?
I love your style.
The lens on the D500 was my 1.4/35mm ...
-
Nicole. Jakov did not really focus. So my eyes are unsharp.
I like the portraits Martine took of me a lot.
-
In #47.1 you managed to connect the buildings geometrically. Very high concentration architecture.
-
Frank thanks for your compliments, you're a very good photographer ...

-
Martine, I have never seen so many fantastic images posted by someone at once! WOW!
Frank, I am sorry I didn't focus properly :-[
Abbey Road
-
Of course Jakov, you are sorry...
Don't you know? Errare humanum est, perseverare diabolicum!
Actually it is very well seen and unmistakably Jakovian.
Martine: I like everything about your pictures, and most of all how you are not afraid of going completely black.
-
Thanks for those kind comments Joost, Jakov and Frank :-)
-
With the files will be better to read :-)
Beautiful series Martine. They all are masterpiece, very artistic.
-
Thank you very much Olivier and Anirban for these great comments :-)
-
Martine. My photos show the surface are nice graphically at best. Your shots always have a subtle subtext.
I love life and I love people. I hope it shows somehow.
-
Don't worry Frank, you're a great photographer and we can feel your love in your pictures. Be simply shure of that.
My friends photographs, I send you a maximum of my pictures because I will be full occupied to prepare the Accessible Art Fair Brussels (22 -25 september at the Musée Juif) where I'm presenting some photographs. You're welcome if its possible for you.
So I must be a little bit "absent" on the file of discussion but still alive :-))
I wish you the best and I'm really curious to see your pictures.
Martine

Lines
-
Thank you all for your nice Abbey Road words :)
A bit of minimalism never hurt nobody, not even in Leuven.
Airy, is ignoring us :'(
Edit: Nicole the yellow lines are truly fantastic!!!
-
Nice portraits Frank. Where is yours?
Portraits
Nice portraits. Who is who? I can only recognize Hans. :)
-
Anirban, the portraits with the black background provided by Frank go as following:
Joost, Werner, Martine, Jakov, Bruno and Nicole.
I was tasked to shoot Frank with his body, but I didn't make it clear enough ::)
-
Being back home, here comes the official group shot:
(Nicole, Frank, Jakov, Martine, Joost, Bruno, Werner)
-
And the road picture (2 versions):
-
Werner the group shot is brilliant!
The NG bandits 8)
Aha, The Beatles :D
-
the group shows a lot of creativity and experimental fun - congrats
-
I hope next time some more of you favourite people join in.
In his pretty absence we declared Airy the official volunteer for the next meeting in Lille.
We all want to hear you play the Organ!!!!
-
Group shot & Abbey Road of Alaun/Werner are just amazing!!!
-
I love the abstacts of Nicole & Jakov although I have no idea what I see....
-
Frank, mine is a bollard, you know one of those metal poles about 50cm in height that prevent traffic and can be subdued into ground :)
I am curious where Nicole found her neon lights though...
Here's another minimalist one.
Airy, we so want to listen to you play!
-
Here is a part of my architectural series
Pity I do not have the editing skills of you folks, so bear with me!

Dear people, I am so sorry I was not able to join you this time! The photos are just amazing!
Frank, I am absolutely mesmerised by your light magic! I cannot stop looking at them! Also, the portraits are wonderful!
Joost your photos of the city made me feel twice as sorry that I wasn't there.
Martine...what can I say? You truly are an artist! I love B/W photos, but yours are really something special! I simply cannot choose between portraits, architecture or the nature.
Jakov...always some artistic take on reality, I love it!
Nicole, your portraits are beautiful and those lines..amazing!
And Werner the group shot is superb! I really am incredibly sorry that I couldn't have joined this time and I hope there will be another get together soon! Thank you for making my day!
-
Love to hear from you, Aleksandra and looking forward to your joining next time
-
Jakov, the neon's are from the library and concerning the other photo, Frank your are looking at a wall of the church from the beguinage (symmetrical double exposure).

Love your new entries, Werner. Esp the mechanics of the Glockenspiel.
Thank you for your explanation, Nicole. Clever abstraction!
One of our participants married in that church!
-
Werner I love your fish-eye shots. You really mastered it as much as you enjoy shooting it. Isn't it the best money on a lens you have ever spent :)
It goes without saying that the best one is the one with me in it. (Sheldon)
-
Aleksandra will meet Airy.
Sorry you didn't make it this time. We missed you, as we missed Hans, John, Thomas, Harald, Buddy, a dog, etc.
I am looking forward to meeting everybody again!
Joost and his yellow rain cover for his rucksack.
-
Nice work Jacov. I am enjoying your out of focus artistry. Much though I like this one, it is your rainy day post from way back at post #3 that is the one I would print large for display.
The end of Frank's stair rail image from the university library is pretty scary - would hate to run into the beast on a cold dark night! :)
-
Nice use of the fish eye in this and your earlier images Alaun.
Is this the outcome of the 8mm Nikkor that we are seeing or are they from one of the third party fisheyes? Thanks.

Hello,
How are you ?
lots of great pictures !
Frank lots of beautiful images #91 both are great, #92 5 Composition is top, 4 beautiful copper door, #93 9 Composition is nice, #115 beautiful with this sepia treatment !
Alaun I like your compositions and the fisheye pictures. What is Jakov looking for ? Airy maybe ? :-)
Nicole, super the light lines.
Jakov, the #90 your bysicle is fabulous. And your blurred pictures are totally unusual. beautiful colours.

You are too kind. I am especially proud that you recognized my composition on #93.9, because I feel this was a good idea to shoot it that way. I feel it is balanced nicely.
-
last one for today: I simply loved the colors and fashion style of this coughing woman waiting in front of the driving school
-
The pictures you Just out on the site are so good. The light and the colours of the lady 👍👍👍

Frank and Werner continue to impress with their imagery!
The Library
A sad fact, libraries have become museums.
You pay a ticket to visit and see books. In the past you would pay a membership fee to read books.
There was only one girl who was actually sat and who was studying. Us tourists, tenfold more scattered and amazed like kids in a Luna-park.
-
Wonderful, alaun. I love every single one of these!
-
#151.1.... wow.
A lot of my pictures I have not even had one look at.

Jacov, that last picture of the library is stunning!

Thank you.
It ist your fault *ggg* that I am starting to see fishy subjects everywhere! And that I will probably buy a fishy lens soon...

Some kind of Landscape :
Waste more "film" and try more, delete more. Our mistakes are the steps on our stairway to learning. More mistakes, more learning!
PS: I like the rusty window
-
Frank, the fish-eye is contagious and liberating, look at Werner's great photos :)
Between the library and the top of the tower there was an historic exhibition of the library.
Obvious evidence that history does repeat itself. The story is self-explanatory if I were to write that it involves the library, the Germans, two world wars, and the efforts to rebuild it.
-
Certainly exploring new photographic territory here, Jakov!
-
the monk digesting smoke & beer
-
Jakov, inside the tower: fantastic.
-
Hello everybody,
How are you ?
Lots of good pictures , difficult to choose what's the best.
I really appreciate the compositions and the originality of lots of them.
Yakov your blurr pictures in the bibliotheque and the #167 and the fisheye are just waow. The portraits shows the different character specially the "Kiss" (Frank ;) ) and Werner but also the Manager Bruno, Nicole was concentrate :-)
Werner I like your type of compositions.
Nicole the like the #164
Frank your two spies " Les hommes du président" #159 and the series of "Bouge de là" are top !
So see you later (maybe)
Martine
Oh if you are interesting I put you the information about the Fair where I'm showing some landscapes.
.
-
Thank you ladies and gents for your kind words :)
Frank I love my self, thus the monk collage is fantastic!!!
Monk taking photos at the monastery where Joost got married.
(These surely belong in the minimalist thread.)
p.s. Joost, thank you so much for your thorough preparation of the maps and your knowledgeable guidance through Leuven once more! Potential thanks goes to Airy for volunteering for the following get together in Lille :)
-

I miss the whole team.
Photography is lonely work most of the time.
Look at the results on how different we see.
Yet meeting you bunch gives a feling of combined magic power & exploration.
I miss you.
Frank
-
here is one pic that clearly shows how I see and think currently.
The obvious choice would have been to align blurred nature and blurred human artwork into the inverse frame.
But I did choose differently: I wanted to show the possibility of alignement yet show that it is currently off.
disaligned. us. unaligned. world. misaligned. nature and culture.
alignment as a possibility.

You're gonna go far, you're gonna fly
You're never gonna die
You're gonna make it if you try

In the next case I totally utterly unequivocally distorted geometry just to show some features of these houses I really like. I took the city as an input scan. not more.

We visited the botanical gardens in Leuven.
It goes without saying how much 135DC enjoyed it :)
-
Many great images!
Jakov, you have found your style.
-
Olivier, thank you so much!
It's nice to be obsessed with making pictures in a certain way making it your style. :)
-
Really nice style Jakov, your pictures are beautiful.
-
Thank you Martine!
Some of my friends know how much I like sunflowers.
And yes, we came across them in the botanical gardens.
I did spend some time introducing 135DC to them :)
-
188 ... mind bending
-
Thanks Frank!
I am completely obsessed with sunflowers. It's an illness, it's a disease, please help meeeeeee :)
-
Jakov, these sunflowers look like synapses and stimulate my nerve. :D
-
Akira, I hope you neurons are doing just fine!!! :)
I started posting in this thread with Nicole, I will end it in the same way.
-
There was a huge variety of furniture in the Kruidenhuin

some more from the library
1. waiting for godot
2. still so much to learn
3. the most important beer brewery from Leuven
4. a nearby school
5. tricolor joy

-
Very fascinating, Joost, esp 1250, the Library as a frame for the fairground attraction.
-
Godot arrived soon afterward :D
Lovely images, Joost!
-
Godot arrived soon afterward :D
Godot was three:
Werner, Bruno, Frank ... Bruno on the phone with Martine who arrived a few minutes later. Makes 3.5 hahaha
-
as waiting for Godot is waiting infinitely, the factor 3 (or 3.5) really does not matter, as n times infinity remains infinity?
yet, some more pictures of the NG bandits:
1. you should definitely delete this image!
2. Nicole & Frank
3. What is the meaning of life? The answer is NOT "42', the simple answer is just lying on the table...
4. Werner taking fishy images
5. Bruno, as is.
6. Frank,as ?
7. Wilh all these blurry Jakov-photos, in the end it even becomes difficult to make a sharp picture of Jakov
8. Unless there is some Martine-counterbalance ...
-
And why didn't you delete it, Joost? :)
-
Well, maybe that I could have a look?
I'm sorry for not having been there - so many appealing pictures.
Unfortunately Leuven got jammed in between other events that needed
my physical presence and my time,
one of them unexpected.
I made it to page 3 so far and continue to enjoy the pictures.
Looking forward for another chance to join the gang.
-
Thomas we missed you!
Also, I forgot to compliment Joost on the last series of photos. Especially the ones with me on them :D (Sheldon)

That's true for my part as well.

And the road picture (2 versions):
Gosh ... I have been 15 Kilogram more than I am now ... interesting to revise the shots.
Reminds me of:
Airy: When do we meet in Lille and you play the pipe organ for us????
