Post by: HCS on February 14, 2016, 22:14:20
This time quite close to my home. Let me know what you think about it.

Hans,  I like barns, especially one like this one made of brick.  My personal favorite is #2, I like the details in the brick and wooden windows plus the bar across the door.  The details in the structure of the brick is nice.

Thanks Lowell, i know you do  :D

Shot in drab weather (a bit of rain), so suited to B&W. I passed this on my way some time ago in an area i don't traverse often. So i made a mental note and went back when i had the time. I know this is not art, but knew this would be one for another barn post  ;D

Nice overview of that Barn, Hans. I like that detailed view.

It looks like Belgium/Flemish style, does it?

I like the second capture ;) but I feel the DOF is not slim not deep, sort of in-between,,, I would love to see a lot of crisp DOF or just a slim depth of sharpness.

Thanks John. I'm not sure which style, but the location is pretty close to my home, which isn't Belgium at all. Even though if you look from a distance (say like northern part of NL or even Denmark or Norway), i could well be in Belgium  :o

Thanks Erik.

I'm not quite sure about the DOF. I shot them at f8 with a 35. So, either my eyes are not so good anymore (very well possible), the lens is not the very best (also possible, 35 f/2D), or i'm not looking at it like you do. I had the impression they are pretty crisp, so it must be a combination of the first 2.

I do really like these don't get me wrong ;)

The 35mm f/2 is not known to be the sharpest,,, that's probably what I'm 'feeling' but at f/8 it should be perfect,,, So it's most likely my eyes,,,

No worries Erik. Now, with my glasses on i see it is not super crisp. It is sharp, but that's about it. I also go low on sharpening typically. Thanks again.
