A couple of brave dancers combined with powder
We did this on the roof of the building where the studio is
While we tried to combine the flashes with the leds, the studio lights overpowered the leds significantly
Flash 1/160 F8 to F/10 ISO 100

Love the expression in 1 and 2.
Very intense different mood. Very well.done!
-
Flash most definitely!
-
The answer: flash!
#1 pure dynamics
#2 strong pose, camera position could be a bit more front up to the model, towards the right end of the dust arc, same elevation.
LED:
I hesitate to agree with the light mixture. I think it's due to the intense narrow band coloring LEDs show.
#3 doesn't work for me
#4 close, the purple light in the hair-splash dust is good, the blue on the legs is too bright, i'd think the face does not match and would improve the capture if artificial LED light would be used as well.
(I imagine 3 colors plus black).
Poses, framing, angles - all on the good side with little room for imp for #2. I thing it's a great start with at least one strong keeper, #1.
-
Mongo loves these Armando - excellent idea and execution. #1 and 2 are real standouts. Particularly like #2 - the closer perspective just gives it a little more impact. A lot of raw energy and captured motion.
Must plead ignorance on the LED arrangement so cannot comment on that aspect.

Thanks for commenting
Flash it is then !

Armando, love the first two so agree on flash. The light from the second set of LED seems weak, diffused. Colours just do not come through well. I do envy your group and the experimenting you do.
Many thanks for posting

Mixing flash and LED is possible but would require very strong LED lighting to compensate or lower your shutter speed to let more LED ambient.....etc.
My preferred pic is number three. There is a strong dynamism in the picture with both dancer and powder shooting upwards.
What really makes the shot for me is the stretch of her neck and her face in focus.
If you look at the hands, it is the only shot where there is synergy between the powder and the hands.
I have reservations on the other pictures as the body figure mainly crotch - hips - inside thighs - bum and belly are hindering the shots.
Now for the negatives. the green does not work and is overwhelming. I would like to see more ground under her feet to help the jump.
Removing the copyright signature and adding more ground is a 5 secs job.
The green cast to be neutralized, enhance the skyline and this is a quick and dirty as to what your Jpeg resolution allows. You can do wonders with the original RAW file.
Unfortunately, I cannot spend more time on it and fine tune a low res Jpeg, but this should give you a road map as to what can be achieved with this image.

With flash you have the ability to freeze the moment with very short burst times and this is what apparently works in the first flash images.

Thank you Tom, Almass , Erik

Adding another image I like , just found it today

Armando, great find. Probably my favourite of the images posted, great pose , action and the 'dust' leaving her hands. I like her looking towards you. Funny , I'm doing much more B&W. In fact, just bought a Pen F with 12mm f2 primarily for B&W 'Street' and Documentary. I guess I'll have to work on using motion blur ;) .

Very creative use of model and dust! ;)
-
I really really like this one. I am already thinking who is going to clean up the mess after I try this :)
-
The new find is very nice. Like the pose and the light in the dust.
