Title: Beulah - 2015
Post by: Longhiker on December 16, 2015, 21:38:47
Mother-in-law Beulah. 94, almost 95, still lucid, funny, active, smart, kind, and nice. May we all be so lucky and positive. I've started a little bit of a character study of her while she's staying in our home for a few months.

All photos were taken with an X-E1 set to auto-iso and using either the Fuji 56mm (standard) or Fuji 55-200mm lenses.

A lady with character and personality. I bet she can tell many interesting tales.

Indeed. It's fortunate that she's still able to recall many of those old memories.

As an aside, both her parents were Danish and her husband, who passed away last June (he was 95), was born in Aalborg, Denmark. So, my wife was surrounded by Danish heritage when she grew up. I benefit from this as their family has a great tradition of excellent cooking and baking. They're in the kitchen right now working on cookies and kringle. Christmas always includes aebelskivers, sausage, and fried apples. Evidently, the key to long life is lots of sugar.

#4 looks like a portrait of a philosopher.  A well-lived person may look that way...

Now she's turned 95. Tomorrow she'll be heading back to Nebraska after being here since November. A nice visit, but she's anxious to get back home.

A thoughtful moment.
