Title: Kalk Bay Cape Town
Post by: elsa hoffmann on June 15, 2015, 14:53:44
The place where everyone practices ... from lanscapes to macro
I am not a birder - and this is the best I could do with my 70-200
Images did loose some quality by posting here - perhaps too big??

clicking on the image takes me to flickr and yes they look better over there

I really like the light on #1 and the contrast vs the darker and completely OOF background

#2 ... not as good as #1

I like #121. Very nice calm composition

Love the bold composition of 121!

I observe some halo around the bird.  Does that caused by the sharpening or the clarity in PS?

Thank you all for the nice comments.
The halo is caused by down sizing I think as there is no halo on high res.
A bit unsightly sadly! But all my fault :)
The bird is a cormorant and they walk around between your feet - or running around finding fish scraps from the fish mongers.

I'm also seeing a halo on the first image, but I do love it, the composition is very pleasing as is the subject matter!
The colours and tones are excellent.

Elsa, no problem, of course.  My note on the halo is just a nit-pick, and it won't hurt the essence ot the image.

I think my problem is downsizing my side - when I resize for use on the internet -  and not down sizing done by the website (this one or other)
The first images were posted to flickr at 1024  and the last one resized to 1000 also on flirckr - yet the smaller one shows up bigger

I have edited the birdie a bit -  doesnt look like it is updating the first one posted - so herewith:
