Title: Incoming - new Tamrons
Post by: stenrasmussen on September 02, 2015, 21:32:22
35/1.8 and 45/1.8...very interesting! (not so sure about the VC though, but remains to be experienced)

The 45 looks very nice. I look forwards to seeing them in person.

Curious wether Tamron is catching up with the Art lenses from Sigma.

A 35 and 45 are interesting choices - rather close together so buyers are more likely to buy one or the other but not both. I like that they focus close, I wish more non-macro primes were like that.

If these new lenses are made and perform along the lines of the Tamron 24-70/2.8 I've tested for a friend, then they'll be yet another good choice for Nikon users.

The VC on my 15-30mm f2.8 is excellent. I have sharp hand-held photos down to 1/2 second exposure.

You perhaps have done so, but would you mind posting some photos with this 15-30, both close up and distant subjects. I'm contemplating this lens very much, but am a bit reluctant because of its price tag (much so like the nikon 14-24). I'm hoping such pictures will sway me as well as have my CFO approve the WA lens budget  ;)

HCS, I bought the lens primarily to satisfy my interest in astro-landscape photography, and thus haven't done much close-up work with it. Also, I have only had it for a few weeks now, but here are a few samples.

Thanks a lot Peter! I really appreciate it.

Do you find the corners to be a problem, especially @ 15mm?

HCS, this is a 100% crop of the extreme top right corner of the first photo above, and the second is near the centre.

Bear in mind that this was a 30-second exposure, so streaking is already slightly evident in the corners, and of course it's wide open as well, and 8000ISO is responsible for the noise. I am actually quite impressed. Vignetting is obviously stealing some of the stars (but also the corner falls outside the milky way). But sharpness is still pretty good.
