Sat. 15th August was the day of the annual Killin Agricultural Show. Obviously, this will not be happening next May, but here are a few images which perhaps tell a little about life and society in Killin.
1) Pipe-band members take a break.
2) Prize-winning cheviot ram.
3) Farmer's wife (and multiple prize-winner).
4) Pets win prizes too.
5) My wife (on the right!) gets the trophy as the best overall vegetable grower.

Nice set. :)
And no Highland Games either. :(
-
I also enjoyed these images. Good series

Thanks, Chris and Elsa.

The Highland Games should have been in late July, but was cancelled due to the extremely water-logged park where these things are held. :-\

I photographed one a few years ago near Loch Lomond. Very impressive and relaxed atmosphere.

It's always nice to know or at least have a glimpse of the cultural background of exotic places. Thanks for sharing, Dave! Mayumi-san rocks!

Thanks, Chris, Frank and Akira, for your comments - much appreciated.
Akira - it's the first time I ever heard Scotland being called exotic! And Mayumi hasn't seen this photo - she hates being photographed. If she finds out I posted it to the forum I will be in big trouble!
-
Dave: Then don't let her look over your shoulder when you are visiting NG ... :D
Chris: Big, burly men in tartan kilts throwing large timber logs -- now, that would be aptly named 'exotic' in the books of most people.

Dave, really? Tokyo is pretty exotic to me. ;) :D
As for the ladies who hates being photographed, she is not really exceptional in this regard. So, don't worry and just be careful! (oh, I miss that devil's emoticon!)

Tokyo is pretty exotic to me too! And the rest of Japan. I'm really hoping I can make it later this year.

Looking forward to seeing you again!

Yes, it would be good to meet up again. Mike too, if he is available.

In the winter, Mike should be in Japan. He is planning to go to Hokkaido to shoot some cranes (with the camera of course!).

A nice social representation and commentary.
