24mm f1.7, 135g weight. Looks tiny.

Apparently, they set 46mm as the new 'DX standard' filter size. Lens does look nice, although its MTF graph looks far from promising compared to other Z optics.

Minimum aperture f/11,.. funny?

Minimum aperture f/11,.. funny?
Well, on full-frame f/16 looks kind of soft, so that would be equivalent to f/11 on DX, so it seems appropriate.
I think the images shown by Nikon have quite beautiful out-of-focus areas especially for a wide angle.

Where can you find the MTF graph for this lens?

Generally the nikon imaging com website is the surest way to find MTF graphs.

Except maybe for the smaller, preferable size the Viltrox 23mm f/1.4 is a much better lens.
-
Agree to that, Fons

I was hoping that it would be better or at least match the Viltrox 23mm..

I wonder if this new Nikon 24mm DX f/1.7 lens would even exist but for the competitive pressure from products such as the Viltrox 23mm f/1.4 (and others from China)?
I was hoping that it would be better or at least match the Viltrox 23mm..

I hardly see the point issueing this lens we have a 26 and a 28 also in pancake format with less than excellent mtf scores? I suppose size matters! It will come with the z30 like a handy and will appeal consumers in that respect!
-
Interestingly there is a TTartisan 17mm f/1.4 again not perfect but..

Indeed Nikon product shots only show the new 24/1.7 on the Z 30.
-
The max aperture of f/1.7 is interesting - 1/2 stop faster than f/2. Nikon commonly use f/1.8 which is 1/3 stop faster than f/2. As far as I know it's the only Nikkor with this speed.
It's a shame Nikon didn't stick with 52mm as the standard small filter size.
-
weird choice of aperture size...even weirder lens design...certainly breaking off from the traditional designs :o :o :o

The lens can focus quite close. 0.18 m ?
It seems bokeh is pleasant if lens if used for that kind of images.
Then probably f/1.7 + close focus is needed to get "bokeh" images.
I think with my Z50 the 24/1.7 is more fun than the 26/2.8 or 28/2.8.
