can anybody please help me confirm that it works with a Z camera? :o :o :o
-
Why shouldn't it work, as long as there is an F bayonet on the lens? Screwdriver-type AF won't work, but that is a common occurrence for Nikon models whether F- or Z-mount for many years. Metering and everything else will function. All AF-S lenses appear to focus normally via the FTZ/FTZ2 adapters as well.
-
i may have forgotten if that worked or not :o :o :o
such a lovely lens, with a cursed motor
it has been years since i dismantled it ::)
-
The AF-S is a great lens and works fine and fast on all the Z-camera's with the FTZ adapter
-
thanks! i will look for one :o :o :o

not sure if this is the right place to ask. i would like to borrow an 80-200/2.8S and a 80-200/2.8D (2 ring) for my reviews. :o :o :o
if anyone in Canada has them i will appreciate it a lot. i have sold mine when i left Japan, i forgot to take sample photos ::)
-
i am also willing to buy, so long as the price is right :o :o :o
i am being killed by the taxes here so the cheaper, the better ::)

I’m sorry but I have neither.

I do have the D (two ring version) but i´m in Spain, so It may take some money to let it get to you. I really like the lens and it works for infrared as well
-
It's wonderful! Great focus in all aspects, plenty sharp and with Ok to great Back ground bokeh.
The 80-200 AF-S f/2.8 is a big heavy lens so quite stable on a large DSLR like a D850 with grip, in other words it's not so nice handling on a Z6 or Z7
There the f/4 version of the 70-200 AF-S would be better.
I really like the 80-200 AF-S f/2.8!

i just bought another one again (AFS), it was NOT cheap, i hope it doesnt have the motor problem ::)
oh, boy.. the things that i would do for the blog... :o :o :o
if anyone has the 2-ring AFD version that they want to lend me, I am still open.
PS: can anyone please teach me or help me monetize my blog? been earning peanuts from the ad views

If you reviews or repairs of current lenses, you could get sponsorship from one of the big retailers like B&H or Adorama - you would get a small commission if someone buys a lens from them after clicking through from your site. I considered it for my site but in the end decided I wanted to keep it free from commercial interests. I suppose you don't have enough time to do paid lens repairs for it to be worthwhile?

The lens arrived :o :o :o
i did notice a fault that i have never seen before when using with the Z6...when you activate the focus lock it does not go back unless you turn the power off ::)
i forgot if that worked on my 1st copy but i dont recall anything like that happening...
@Roland, that is another option but apparently not a lot of people actually click and buy from the links unless i get as much traffic as nikon rumors :(
-
Have you looked at Patreon? I heard of them only, no experience with them...

I noticed the same 'error'. Be careful to use the focus lock on the Z6.
Same as Erik, I love the AF-S. It's a super lens.
