Time to turn into the IR world again .... The ancient Nikkor-N 5cm f/1.1 is a wonderful lens for IR, if one remembers to not stop it down beyond f/8 or so. This is f/11 so a pesky hot spot is starting to show and I had to trim the outcome in order to get rid of the worst side effects. The sharpness is impressive, even more so when one considers this is a lens nearly 70 years old!.

What will happen if you shoot into a strong light in IR? As the IR pass filter lacks normal AR coating, and lens coatings are inefficeent in IR, "some" reflexes are expected. OK, then "some" in addition. And then even more :)

Exploring the avenues opened up by the überfast Rodenstock TV-Heligon 50mm f/0.75 shooting a blue-hour scene at 22 PM hand-held, ISO 100, with the full-spectrum Nikon Z5. Filtration set up to emulate false-colour infrared film, IE 2443.
The lens continues to surprise me with its performance. Once it was maligned as a crap optic ... food for thought indeed. Depth-of-field at f/0.75 definitely is restricted, but for scenes ~100m away one can get most of it into passable focus.

It is the season for snails in the south of Spain. You can get them in many places. The latest fashion is a glass full of them cooked and in sauce. Cultural mileage may vary... ;)

We are in a cycle of short afternoon thunderstorms. They don't last very long and they're kinda nice actually. I'm hoping they return during the hot, humid days of summer when we really need a cooling break from the heat. Unfortunately they also bring strong gusts of wind that can topple those somewhat fragile objects like yucca stalks in early flower. I love those brilliant white flowers, even when their stalks have fallen. Fuji X100S.

I was tempted to get the TC14 Z mainly for my Nikkor 400mm f/4.5 Z and by a stroke of luck got it. The TC is surprisingly heavy and very robustly built. It has a tab on the inner rim of the bayonet, like the 'E' converters for F-mount, to prevent 'illegal' lenses to be attached. Legal in this context means a lens with a matching notch on their mounts. Being a nerd, I quickly replaced the original mount with a normal female Z mount so there isn't any tab. Thus many lenses will mount, in particular if a narrow extension ring is added to prevent the protruding front of the TC to crash into the rear glass of the hosting lens. However, if the host is a lens that the camera recognises, we are thanked by an error message of 'cannot shoot, unsupported lens'!! Shame on you, Nikon. The solution is of course to prevent the signals from the hosting lens to get back to the camera.
I must say the TC functions flawlessly with the new 400/4.5Z. The combination does AF a little slower, as expected. otherwise stabilisation functions very well. Thus even yours truly can shoot this combination hand-held.
Blur circles are nice, too.

Commuters alighting at Oslo Central Station. IR with Nikon Z5 and the Nikkor 28mm f/2.8 SE Z, Hoya R72 filter. With the jet black filter in front of the lens most people assume there is a lens cap on, and the impression is strengthened by using the camera in silent mode. AF works fine in IR, by the way.

A first impression, actually. Which might be in error, but the appearance certainly is close to that species.
The red flower is Silene dioica Red Champion. The blue belongs to Boraginaceae, but there are multiple candidates for it.

Nice to see your (last) images of the Mirage. Australia licence built Mirage IIIEs for the RAAF, with their last 50 being sold on to Pakistan when they were withdrawn here.

As well as being lovely images of some amazing (maybe vintage?) technology, I loved that we could clearly see the pilot in some of these Daniel.
I've had similar experiences in the hillside of Wales, where the airforce train their pilots by flying along twisty valleys, so you can often be standing higher up than the plane.
Were you in a similar location, or was this near the airfield?

There's a delicious cabbage that's called January King in the UK.
I planted some last autumn and they were veeeerrrryyy slow to grow.
In fact, they're just starting to heart up now (sadly just in time for Cabbage White butterflies to lay their eggs on them)

Thank you Birna, it is. I have been using it for a few days now and is a little tighter than a normal 50mm,it suits me just fine. Curiously I'm not fond of the close up images I have been taking (because of me, not the lens) but portraits, street, landscape, walk-around, etc... It delivers

Downtown Oslo today: 25C, girls in tank tops and miniskirts. Very normal for the season. Concurrently 200km west of Oslo, on the *main* road to Western Norway: rescue teams excavate snowed-in vehicles. People never learn to use winter tyres for the mountain crossings :) Also very normal for the season!!
