Title: shipping cameras and lenses to Canada

hello. i am really busy these days since i will be moving to Montreal really soon.
i need advice on sending my repaired junks to Canada, which service and how to avoid customs and taxes.
any help is appreciated. :o :o :o

You shouldn't pay taxes or duties if you send them as personal effects.

thank you. i do have close to 200 lenses and around 100 cameras...

i wonder how i could make these fly under the radar so to speak :o :o :o

I moved from Las Vegas to Spain and making a declaration and a list of personal items made the trick. It was not easy thou, Spanish customs acan be specially greedy. Being essentially used gear should work.

No need to fly under the radar - they are legitimate personal belongings to do with your hobby - just declare them as such.

Wow, that’s a big move - but considering the working environment of Japanese companies it is VERY understandable!

Canada will not be the Aladdin’s Cave for old Nikon gear that Tokyo is, but I hope you find a way to continue your good work ;-)

It has been a couple of decades since I moved to Canada but I don’t remember paying any duty on my personal goods. Nor have I paid duty on used items that I bought from abroad and had shipped here.

When I migrated to Canada, everything came in free as Settler's Effects, and that would have included my 1947 MG TC, had I brought it. However, that was 1967. Canada is very fair.

damn, looks like it will take $3000 to ship my stuff to canada :o :o :o by ship which means my things will be prone to fungus!

i told myself not to buy things that will be problematic when moving but Nikkor is life

im going to dispose of some of the longer and heavier nikkors i have here that arent valuable...maybe this weekend to the happiest place on earth (Fujiya camera) :o :o :o
