Post by: Akira on March 01, 2022, 04:11:35
Post your "blog" contributions here  No theme (other than what the passage of time creates), no contest implied, a maximum of one picture per day in the actual month and no more than 4 images per month for NG members, up to 28 for Supporters. You can distribute the contributions as once per week if you so prefer. Enjoy!

Shot with SIGMA fp and Ai AF Nikkor 70-300/4.5-5.6D wide open.  The original RAW (DNG) file was "enhanced" in ACR to double the resolution and than cropped.

Switch between internetproviders does not go smoothly, no connection at the moment.

The good news is that the Z9 is on its way.

The same tree welcoming a different guest.  This is a brown-eared bulbul (Hypsipetes amaurotis).  The former guest was a Japanese white-eye (Zosterops japonicus).

The bulbul is much more cautious than the white-eye, and I've never thought I was even able to direct a camera to it.  Shot with the same combo and processed in the same way as the image posted on the 1st.

Thank you, Paco, for kind words!

I think the overall color and tone came from the remaining aberrations of this lowly lens, but I'm pleased with the rounded and gentle rendition it provids.  It is a screwdrive-type AF-D zoom, so it is notoriously challenging to handhold and focus, though.

Thanks Paco,  yes that lens works great on the Z 9 combining the excellent image quality with the spot on and fast autofocus.

As noticed before with the Z6 and Z7, the AF-S lenses perform better than on the F-mount, image quality is equal, or even better (with the FTZ), and the auto-focus is much better.

Personally I like the F mount lenses over the Z mount ones,  they are too clinical, and too well corrected. Perhaps very sharp but also very standard picture book-images...

I am growing tired of winter. I live at 41.47 latitude north on the same line basically as Rome and Barcelona and yet here we were yesterday suffering through another snowfall and its aftereffects. At this time of year, there is little to compensate me for the headache of snowplowing and shoveling but we must endure, mustn't we?

In 2022 it's 150 years ago the famous Dutch painter Piet Mondriaan was born in Amersfoort.
Lots of activities in the city - such as this crosswalk in Mondriaan style - to commemorate this.
I waited for some people to enliven the scene and was lucky when this colourful group crossed.

In "detention" these days, so my photographic opportunities are very limited at present. I have to make do with whatever scraps of gear available. This is a makeshift setup with a scanner lens.

A detail of an Alstroemeria Peruvian Lily at 1.33X. My hand-holding technique suffers badly from the current Covid-induced misery, so sharpness is suboptimal. Also, I'm grounded in Ruth's apartment since we both are in quarantine and thus I cannot get to my Stackshot gear.

That 85/1.4 AF-S G is indeed a great lens, not so many reviews are around, but significantly better than the AF-D version.  One of the best f/1.4 AF-S lenses.

I tried the 15/4.5 in the Nikon F non-retrofocus version, also on the Z cameras. This version is rarer than the L and both smaller and bigger at the same time, as it sticks deep into the camera throat but exposes a very flat exterior.  There is some vignetting by the non-retrofocus design, however, so I mostly use this lens on my Z fc. A nice lens in either design (I sold off the L39 model when I ceased to use film).

The vignetting is not too bad with this first version, although it matters which angle of light you use. And to my surprise it works pretty well on the Z9.

Fons, that "girl with dog" (she is a gorgeous girl) and "Daffodil" are extra. You are in a roll!

I´ve been short on time recently so I only have another image on the theater... Last year at the conservatoire.
