Title: The lioness
Post by: golunvolo on February 23, 2022, 13:32:48
Saturday the 19th was a presentation of a work-in-progress for a new show. It is rich in images and stage magic. I haven't, by a long shot, finished the edits and selection of the whole event. It has been a while since I share this type of work here in NG so it is about time  :) It is a long show with different "tableaus" so it will be animage heavy post.
Those will hopefully be used in dossier, magazine, posters, online content, social media, etc...

This first batch is all with the z6 and 70-200 2.8 fl with ftz adapter. All at 2.8 and mostly 3200-1600 iso with some room for post-production.

P.E.: special post for Akira  :)

Lovely work Paco!
I see also musical instruments and parts take their roles in the dancing :)
The last shot is my favorite
There are some people including me share the passion for music/musical instruments and photography

Beautifully contrasting light and shadows!

The story seems to be interesting.  Does the male dancer play the role of a luthier?

The last one in the second set is just superb!

Thank you for starting this dedicated thread!

I think Carles Benavent played a significant role to establish the bass part in the modern flamenco.

Thank you all for your wonderful reactions.
The whole show, actually a total of 3, are inspired by "la Leona", a very special and revolutionary  guitar of the luthier Antonio de Torres Jurado, still a myth today. He is also responsible for other noteworthy guitars.
I don't know if the man is supposed to be a luthier but I love the question and will pass it along.

Carles Benavent (the alien   ;D 8) ) is definitely a big influence! Modern flamenco has a debt with him. The guy playing the 5 string bass with frets I think is amazing. I have a video of his performance in the show if you are interested. He also just released a cd.

I´m still looking at the images from that day and will add more images if anything interesting pops up

Ah, that makes sense.  The legendary "la Leona" guitar built by Antonio de Torres was played by Stefano Grandona for the recording of this CD.  I have one, of course, and you can listen to the album at least on Spotify.

Some footages of live performances of Calres Benavent can be watched on YouTube.  If the video you have is an unpublished one, I'm interested, of course.

I think I didn´t explain myself. The video I have is from this weekend and the player is "Juanfe", the performer in the show. He is a freelancer bass player very involved with flamenco. Still, if you are interested...  ;)

Oh, I see.  You mean, this guy here?:

Apparently, he is strongly influenced by Carles Benavent.  Yes, I'm interested for sure!
