Yesterday I shot this series of images at Artis Zoo in Amsterdam.
All images shot with a Nikon Z6 + Nikkor 70-200mm f4 VR + some quirky post processing

Excellent shots Luc, familiar animals in new habitats, at least to me as I have not visited Artis after the reconstruction work.
How did the Z6 do with the eye autofocus after the firmware update?
Remember from the “old” days that I was constantly switching AF points to get an eye in focus of over active animals.
-
Thanks Jan Anne. I hadn't visited ARTIS in years and was pleasantly surprised, still a nice place to visit. And café Eik & Linde is just around the corner :D
I used AF-S for the slower animals and AF-C Auto-area AF with Face and eye detection on for the more mobile ones. Worked ok although I now realise I probably should have used Animal detection on?

This is a lovely series, Luc. Thank you for including a wolf; I like them 8)
The vignette works well to focus attention on the subjects. What else did you do to produce this look?

Numbers 3 is so cute. The processing works for me too.

Thanks a lot Ian. The wolf shot was a difficult one as most of the time they were pacing around restlessly. I used a Nik Analog Classic Camera filter as a basis for the processing.

Thanks Paco. They are cute indeed. And small, in an attempt to emphasise this I included quite a lot of empty space in this shot.

It works!

I always admire your choice of the processing, in addition to the choices of subjects. While I'm browsing through this series, I felt as if I'm looking at the prints from a color negative film out of a quick DPE shop! The effect works really well. It's like revisiting old prints made 10-20 years ago (meaning, not too old but never fresh).

Great shots Luc, I love the isolation and the postcard feel.
Re the animal eye AF, I wonder if the dark inner ears on the meercat and the red panda would confuse the system? Or in a domestic situation the spots on a Dalmatian dog or the rosettes on a Bengal cat? ;D ;D

Looks classic and vintage very fitting for the series!

I bet it was an enjoyable day and I like the images.
Dunno what the monkeys in #4 are, but there's something beautiful but also intimidating about their loo,

Thanks Colin. Don't know about their loo, perhaps it was shortly before cleaned ;)

Really loved the tone on all these images. Beautiful captures, keep clicking

Thanks Govind, and welcome to Nikongear.

I bought a second-hand TC14-II for € 225 to provide me with some extra reach on the Z6 + F 70-200mm f4 for images like these. I'm looking forward to using it, hopefully the current lockdown will be lifted soon.
