It was an indoor pool inside a gloomy greenhouse, and the auto ISO was impossibly high! Maybe the highest the camera is capable of. But I kind of like the water colour effect.
Also ... I was using a VERY cheap F to Z adapter, and I could feel it wobble while using the reflex lens. I am sure it severely impacted on sharpness - so from now on I will only use a Nikon FTZ with it.

Took a much needed break from the Aquatic Plant Project writing today and went for a hike in the woods nearby. It's been pretty cold of late, so many places still had hoar frost and I realised at little belatedly that my Raynaud Syndrome would hurt me terribly later on. Which it true to expectation did. Oh well. In winter I obviously live in the wrong country.
Anyway, deep into the forest the dense vegetation had prevented the chill to reach the forest floor, giving me a little relief, and then I stumbled upon a Beetle-infested section of the woods. How they had managed to get the car wrecks this far into the wilderness is beyond me as there are no roads around.
I shot the scene with my spare Df, which I had forgotten how nice it is, and the K version of the 35mm f/2.8 Nikkor, which likewise surprised me with a really nice performance. Had obviously forgotten all about that lens too, which maybe is an indication of having too many lenses I'd guess.

Hanging lichens on conifers is a sure sign of an old forest. A pity the dense-standing trees "steal" the light however one has to open up the lens and hope for the best.

There is a highly threatended species Usnea longissima that can extend to 5-6m in length. It was formerly used as tinsel for Xmas decorations. Very bad for a species that grows slowly and depends on existence of 200+ yr old forests.

What? For real? Looks like a Heath Robinson contraption.
Japan is ‘funny’, as there are several different kinds of gas, and heater. 30 years ago I was living in a dismal shared house, when suddenly a gas man rushed in and confiscated our heater. He told us that it didn’t match the gas supply, and was VERY dangerous. We argued, but we couldn’t deny that for almost a year our health had been troubling.

This works very well for camping and outdoor activities the heater runs on propane which is hotter than butane gas, which come in large bottles.
Thank you sir for your interest.

More Catalan on Sagrada Familia. More Df and 180/4, by the way. Sorry for the poor quality of the shot, the marked shadow at the top could not be avoided, given the blazing sun.
I did not know about the author (Salvador Espriu) before I saw that. Rough translation of the beginning: "Sometimes it is necessary and forced that a man dies for a people, but never should a whole people die for a man. Never forget this, Spain." (Sepharad is a literary synonym for Spain). "Make sure to set up bridges of dialogue, and consider and appreciate the rationales and sayings of your sons" etc.
These words were put on paper when Franco was ruling, and are now on bronze. It is poem #46 from the booklet "the bull's skin" (la pell de brau). No comments, as this is not a philosophy forum. Hope you enjoy that all the same.

Ian, nice to see how Canadians mark Rememberance Day. Thanks for this.
Whilst Australians celebrate Rememberance Day, ANZAC Day (ANZAC = Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) day on the 25th of April is a much bigger deal for them. Australia (and NZ) celebrate ANZAC Day to commemerate all those who lost their lives in all wars.

So far In the there are just the type you stand on.
I've seen small numbers in London, and loads in my local city of Bristol.
Seeing large numbers being used on normal roads mingling amongst normal car & lorry traffic, with very minimal lights and the riders never wearing a helmet takes some getting used to. But they seem powerful enough to get up quite steep hills....

This is the kind of photo I usually shy away from -- an "aerial survey" of the vegetation. However, in this case, the frost-touched bog surface had such fascinating diversity of colourful species within a tiny area so I just *had* to snap a picture. I counted no less than 5 or 6 moss species, a sedge, cranberries, fallen foliage of at least 4 different shrubs and trees, and probably more if I had scrutinised the plot further.

Catalan looks like an interpolation between Spanish and French, which helps... in some rare cases, I had to look up ("brau" is very far from es:toro and fr:taureau)... but seeing those texts is a near-pentecostal experience: a foreign language I never studied, and I have the impression that I can understand it. It is, of course, just an impression, and parts remain obscure.

Kettle, or pothole, lakes are seen everywhere in the formerly glaciated tracts of the Nordic countries where moraine deposits prevail. They are often very small, can be extraordinarily deep given their size, and have small catchments or are entirely feed by ground water. They are often surrounded by conifer forests, mainly Scots Pine (which isn't Scottish at all, but that is a story for another day). Most are in a process of being overgrown by expanding blanket bogs in the ecological succession Germans so accurately designate 'Verlandung'. Because of their boggy surrounding, often dark peat-stained waters, and the depth, Nordic Folklore populate these lakes with scary creatures such as the Water Sprite ('Nøkken' in Norwegian), and stories about people - mainly women, apparently - who have been lured into the dark waters are plentiful.
In my neighbourhood there several of them and this one is a prime example. Viltrox 23mm f/1.4, Nikon Z fc. One should not venture out to the water edge despite the surround bog now is freezing over. The substrate is like a quagmire and highly dangerous. So I kept my distance in order to tell the tale.

In Camargue, the bull is called "Biou" (as in Bœuf) a derivative from Occitan/Provencal... So no wonder for the "Brau" in Catalan :-)

The 16mm fisheye on the dx Zfc shows not as much distortion as one would expect.
Then in PS i corrected the distortion by applying the 16mm profile.

I don't know for sure but I have a hunch it is intented to be like this.

Northern Mockingbird, one of my favorites. When they sing, their song is various and ever changing, sometimes mimicking other birds. They perch in conspicuous places (like this tilting sign right on the road's edge).

A view towards the sierra
I'd love to be able to walk into this landscape Armando.
Bet its comfortably warm too?
Just below the centre of the image, there's the red/brown blur of something moving
Is that an exotic bird in flight ?
(I'd wished for an Orangutang swinging from tree to tree)?
last of the garden chrysanthemums
So delicate, I've never seen one with petals as frilly as this Fons

Colin, your landscape, is it a drone image? I really like the soft light and colors.
The view I shared was taken past noon and yes it comfortable, maybe 20°C, I'm not sure what is the brown blur
Paco, great color contrast of the pink vs the sky,, and very nice perspective of the street in b&w
Fons very poetic image of the flowers divided by the window
John always documenting every day life with interesting images
Birna, always with an unconventional image that I may just walk by without noticing it

your landscape, is it a drone image?
No drone, this is a range of hills and I was higher up.
Being there & seeing the 360 views does make me long to learn how to paraglide though
Had a lovely walk in some Worcestershire woods yesterday with blue skies & golden autumn leaves
Here are none of these :)

Yes, Finis (end) terrae (earth). Claiming to be the last known piece of the world. We even have a Finisterre Cape (fisterra) in La Coruña, northwest Spain.
This image is from Cádiz, pretty close to claim the title but just a licence of yours truly. :)
Thank you all for your nice words, it is truly appreciated.
