Title: High resolution monitor
Post by: MEPER on August 08, 2021, 15:29:45
I am looking for a new monitor.
I remember a thread where a BenQ monitor was praised a lot as a very good affordable monitor?
Is that still the case?

This was a thread running previously.
Specs & choices may have moved on, but I'm happy with what I bought

I will have a look what BenQ offer today.
Don't know if 8k is available for PC-monitors or it is only TV monitors......

I use the NEC Multisynch PA 302W and am happy with it.

The NEC is also a nice monitor (fine reviews).

I just went for the BenQ SW271C as 27" is a fine size for me. It will be an upgrade from my HP 2509m monitor.
I wonder if my very old Xrite i1 Eye-One Display2 can still work to calibrate the new monitor......and if I can download the software for from Xrite.com......we will see.

I also looked at Eizo monitors but seems to be a "price-jump" up for a 4k, 27" monitor. They are probably good also.....but I am sure the BenQ will be "good enough" for my purpose.
It is also part of a "home office" solution.....

BenQ SW271C monitor is now up and running.
Images looks much better than on the old monitor. It looks quite impressive.
I installed the vendors driver for the monitor.
The video adapter is a standard cheap Gforce adapter that can just do 4k (at 60 Hz).

Only strange behavior is that some very small text has some red/blue discoloration. It seems that installing the vendors driver helped a bit but it is not 100% gone.
Anybody knows this problem?

The font size is set to 150% which is the recommended setting.
Maybe the small fonts that shows the "problems" was not made for 4k monitor?
It could also be the relative cheap Gforce adapter?

Scaling set to 200% and problem solved.
It is also good for my eyes.......

I also did this with the sw270, but does scaling only effect text? I can never get my head around this, as I can’t ‘see’ how scaling can’t have a negative impact on images.

I just wish the software makers would stop friggin’ around with tiny text on a dark background! Total madness :-(

The images viewed here is also viewed larger when when I increased scaling from 150 to 200%.
Images then uses more of the screen which is a good thing.
