This common loon was captured several years ago. There were a number of visiting loons on the lake, and is often the case, some tempers flared and the resident loons were showing how aggravated they were. This behaviour was not directed at me, but the invading loons.
When the loon propels itself up into the air like this, it is called the Penguin dance, as from the front the full display of the wide underside does remind one of a penguin.
