Of course a member can start the monthly 'blog' if admins are not present (I was on the road to more aquatic plants :) ).
However, it is recommended one copies the conditions set forth in the normal monthly opening thread and adds those to the initial post.
Only the admins can lock the previous month thread.

Am looking forward to seeing some snippets of your further research of the aquatic plants.

Thank you David. This is on a walk I do every time I have a chance, which is rare now as I am stuck at home teaching online, and it has rained for about four weeks now.
I have done this walk almost a 1000 times over the last 15 years, so now I just have an eagle eye for the details. I am also kind of addicted to the widest aperture on the fastest lenses now. Unfortunately it results in images where it is not easy to find anything in focus! But that matches my eyes ;-)

In case anyone should wonder why I post more rarely these days, there is an explanation part of which is seen below. Several of the troublesome aquatic plant genera on my to-do list this season are requiring photomacrography and photomicrography, both of which take time. Too much time apparently -- and there are stacks of relevant scientific stuff & monographs to devour and digest as well. So it goes.

Lovely and abstract. What is it taped to? Looks amazingly clean and tape-friendly. Here in Japan every outdoor surface is caked in grime, and tape would not adhere.

This is something of the one that got away. My D850 could not focus on the lizard on the window screen and did a lot of hunting. This same lizard showed up several days in a row. It was aware of me and moved it's head to keep an eye on me. Now it's gone. If it shows up again I may try using a 28/2.0 AIS rather than the AF-D 28-70/3.5-4.5 Nikkor I used.

Yes, it's comfortable although I delibelately chose a bike without front and seatpost suspension (imo unnecessary weight and complexity). Wide tires 47x622 (28x1.75) and a Brooks Cambium saddle offer enough comfort for me. I'm not a fast rider anymore. I usually ride in lowest Eco mode, so I have to add human power which keeps me fit.

Akira, I can understand your reservations. I just hope that Japan does not experience a COVID surge as a result of the games. Here in Melbourne we are now in the middle of our 5th state government lockdown with an extension highly likely, so I really feel for all others battling the COVID pandemic.
Stay safe Akira San.

Thank you, gentlemen, for kind words and concern. I would have to say that this event would become the worst shame that Japan has exposed to the world since the defeat of the WWII.
Snoogly, the FP has been noticeably improved by two major updates both in terms of image quality and functionality. The natural cooling construction works great in the summer in Tokyo. The FP offers neither high-ISO or long exposure noise reduction. I have done many 30-second exposure in the summer night last year to shoot lightnings but never missed the long exposure NR. I have shot many images at ISO 6400 and 12800 buit, again, never missed the high-ISO NR.

You don't look too happy :(

A strange day today for sure. By serendipity I got my lost Z6 and the 105mm f/2.8 MC Nikkor Z back unharmed -- OK, the culprit had partly filled the XQD card with junk photos before the gear obviously was dumped in a remote corner of the airport. I also, by another route, got back my 200/2 ED-IF that had been gone so long I hardly remembered its existence any more. And, the icing of the cake, the Zfc appeared on my doorsteps!!
Basically I like the camera albeit I probably will opt for a pink skin later.... It is planned to be mated mainy with old RF Nikkors. Two of the old golden RF lenses are here, the legendary 8.5cm f/2 and the excellent 3.5cm f/1.8. I am informed the mighty 5cm f/1.1 will arrive in a fortnight or so.
-
Birna, that must have been your lucky day :)
-
Very good serendipity :)
That Zfc looks gorgeous. Looking forward to your thoughts about its performance.

We were both lucky, Birna. My check-up was good and you have new toys. :D

Great that light, with those yellows, and blues, Luc.

Oh well. The day isn't over before the sun has set. Later that evening, the mainboard on my main NAS suddenly died. denying me access to about 60 TB of data.
-
Bummer, Birna. I hope you'll able to sort that out quickly.

Thanks John. Yes, this image could/should have been shot in Sweden ;)

;D seems there's something for everyone in that image.

Don't ask and I won't tell.
Zfc by the way.
-
How do you like the Zfc then?
-
The usual mix of pain and pleasures, too early to sort everything into the proper category. The looks are really cute, but no camera delivers on appearance alone.
Noise levels seem to be very well kept under control, although I cannot vouch this is the norm as only NX Studio of my converters natively support Zfc at present. Photo Ninja handles the files without problem but colours are not perfect as a dedicated camera profile is not present.
I might open a separate Zfc thread, if I can get a little breathing space in my packed schedule.

This is a traditionally red-painted, still very nice, house on a small island inland of Kristiansund, Western Norway. I could not resist the vivid red contrasting with the lush greens of the background verdure, so hauled out the 300 PF for a straight-on snapshot.

On board over Baffin Island yesterday or was it the day before - with some lucky spacing to the next passenger.
(Google Pixel 3 phone, I also took one with D500, but preferred this one, as light happened to be better at the moment.)

And a view out of the window with 12-24mm on D500. (I believe this was the next day, but hard to know when crossing the time zones in the air ;) )
