I now have ED :o :o :o
full of mushrooms, needs to be cleaned. ::)
glad to see that it is smaller compared to the original 50-300
-
I recommend that you sauté the mushrooms in butter.

I wish more people were posting. I'm sorry I don't have anything worth posting at this time.

This picture is from June 2018, taken with Nikon D7100 attached with AI-S Zoom-Nikkor 50-300mm f/4.5 ED, aperture f/11. I always use f/11 on this lens, "sharpest" aperture recommended by Bjørn/Birna Rørslett.

Sorry, I ment RØRSLETT!

i won't go beyond f/8 for this lens :o :o :o
my left arm isn't that strong ::)

What a classic. I've owned a few of these over the years, including Ai-S, Ai and the dread non-Ai, and only sold the last one a few years ago when I realized I wasn't taking it out much. Hope you'll have a great experience with yours

this one easily took more than 15 hours to overhaul :o :o :o
impressive construction, even the aperture ring has a suspension

My copy, by now quite battered, of the 50-300 ED AI floats permanently around in the trunk of my car. One never knows when it comes handy, only that it will at some time. Just put the metal 95mm front cap and/or the hood on it and it is well protected, even from myself.
Just a few random samples pulled from my archives when I did a search for '50-300'.

I love my Nikkor 50-300/4.5 AIS ED
Here on the Z6

wow! how do you like your ED :o :o :o

Thanks Richard. As mentioned before: Love it. I have a sample of the last AIS version and bought one in a nearly mint state, must have come from an collector, I guess.
Works brilliantly on the Z's. Focus is easily to obtain. And the files with this lens are so clean and vivid.
The only drawback is the size and the weight, but one get use to it ;)

Her gentle gaze gets some extra wild here with the hair and the color contrast: ice and fire

A year and a half ago, I bought ANOTHER 50-300. And I'm going to keep it because the glass is really excellent (the body isn't as pristine). One of the first images I took with it was a little abstract, beside a cataract in pretty dim light (on a heavy tripod). Nikon D780.

I like this image. I have also had 2 50-300 ED AiS. The first I got from an ebay seller in Japan--Exterior and glass looked great but was totally disaligned internally, so it couldn't generate a clear image at any FL or distance. Later found what is apparently a good copy locally. Because I got it mainly for video use, I've got no interesting stills from it...yet!

Lovely image, Gil

Nikon just published a new article on the development of this lens: https://imaging.nikon.com/imaging/information/story/0092/

Ah - the AI version which is the one I own. I consider the 50-300 as a perfect lens to have stashed in your car, readily available if the need for it arises.
Not mentioned in the view is the tripod mount, which ranks among the best from Nikon.

it is good for self defense :o :o :o
