Any experience using HN-1 (instead of the original HN-2) on the AIS 28 2.8?
I dont have a hood for mine, and I have a chance of buing one from a person nearby :-).

HN-1 will be very short on an 28mm, it was intended for 24mm so will not supply adequate shade since Nikon is very conservative and always makes sure that evne if you fit filters under the shade they will not give mechanical vignette,,,

I think even the HN-3 (for 35mm focal length) will work with the 28/2.8, as long as it is fitted directly to the lens and not on top of a filter.
The HN-1 is short and will not provide much shade from bright light, but it will offer some mechanical protection from bumps and stray fingers.

This is my experience also.

Thank you all for your response, I think I’ll pass on this one then.

Or get the HN-2.

Buy the HN-1 - then you will have it for when you get the 24mm lens. ;) ;) ;)

From experience I can confirm the HN-3 works ok on this 28mm.
