When you try to click on an image to enlarge it, Google Translate tries to translate the image from Japanese to English, and after a while it sentences that "it's too big to translate" :o
(programmer must have been sleeping)
Even big corporations make big mistakes...
I have the AFS version of the 60mm μNikkor/2.8, should be quite similar, naturally faster when focussing. One of my staple lenses.

I'm impressed how good the google translation is, the article is quite readable. It was interesting to read how they adapted the AI-S 55/2.8 micro (1:2 magnification) to the AF version (1:1), what it's shortcomings were, and why they decided to replace it with the AF 60mm micro.

There is a site called DeepL, it's better at translating with regards to grammar :o :o :o

The two 60mm Micro-Nikkor lenses are very different optically; The old one AF and AF-D works by extension and a CRC group the new AF-S is an IF lens, no extension.
Thank you for sharing the link!

I guess you are right! (as usual). The AFS 60mm is longish (90mm from flange to filter thread), probably longer or at least just as long as the 60mm AFD at minimum focal distance-.
