Sad event and sadder, yet revealing outcome.

The follow up responses are also worth reading... ::)

It does seem outrageous and unjust that they had to negotiate a reduced criminal charge against the thief in order to get their gear back from the thief.

When I read the Web link, it was very misleading: it looked as if the late photographer Anthony Bourdain had stolen the stuff (naturally in the past, when alive)
The Petapixel people admitted (in the article) that they had misleading sentences in the article (and they changed those), but they did not change the webpage name, which is still misleading.
Horrendous! I wish mr.Holloway all the possible bad luck!

Maximum publicity is the best approach, drive him out of business.

This is just ridiculous. What a pathetic, slimy, parasitic human being he is.
Apparently, that's according to the comments, he also stole another photographer's gear, big guns nonetheless, namely a 600/4 and an expensive fullsized DSLR, some other expensive lenses too. This isn't his first, and I'm sure it's not his second either.
Though there isn't empirical proof, the person claims that the thief's girlfriend claims he stole it. Given his track record, I'm inclined to believe the man.
Such a parasite, people like this are pathological thieves and liars, they need to be shamed.
