Title: Wild in our garden
Post by: David Paterson on July 27, 2015, 11:57:43
We have a large area set aside to remain wild, to provide food and shelter for insects and small animals and birds. Some species of garden plants have established themselves here as well.

Around this time the area begins to be interesting visually, too.

Thank you all for the kind comments.

We have around 3.3 acres of ground (1.34 hectares), and about half is devoted to two wild meadows. They are my favourite areas, require almost no maintenance, and are a great consolation for all the huge amount of work which has to go into the cultivated parts of the garden.

Wild in our garden!!

Yes, we get these babies too, tho' we haven't been seeing them quite so often since a series of very hard winters seemed to reduce their numbers.
