After seeing the broken umbrellas in Fons' shots I noticed I
took a lot of these too. But. Look at these:

Yep, worst storm in 100 years (mainly in the coastal area).

That explains why my car felt a little nervous on the highway.
Also a lot of broken off branches on the road, even on the highway a branch just flew by :o

A quick snap with my iPhone this morning.

Thanks, no it isn't.
A few Miles on my way to work.

Cutting away the roots of the tree to construct that road didn't help the stability...

These are bizarre and surreal. Hope there were no human damages...
-
Picking up on what John said all the trees seem to have very shallow root systems!

We normally don't have these kind of storms in Summer.
All the trees are full of leaves and are top heavy.
In Autumn when the trees are without leaves we every now and then have these kind of storms.
-
The storm was very exceptional indeed. But disregarding the tree's original root-system during all kind of road-constructions plays an important role in the heath and stability of the tree.

no more pictures?

Quite possibly we could do a lot of good by reintroducing beavers elephants and Rhinos to England and the like.
We could do a lot of good by greening the deserts instead of deserting the greens too.
It would make the landscapes better for taking photos too.

Fallen trees everywhere

The pine forest called ''Landes'' in the south west of France was devastated twice in one decade,
That never happened before.
Some forest owners don't dare to replant pine any more...
I agree with Frank : climate will getting worse until the end of a cycle, but nobody knows when. :-\
