Each year I journey north in Michigan for the loon hatch. It is generally within the first two weeks of June, but the weather has been so unpredictable with climate change, that I didn't know what to expect. I watch two lakes very closely, and occ. visit others when time allows.
The first chicks hatched on 6-3, still waiting for the second set to hatch on the other lake.
D4. 600VR. f/5.6. 1.800s. ISO 500. Taken from the bottom of my little boat. I have worked this lake for so long, that the adults are comfortable with me, and often come in too close.
Comments and advice appreciated.
More loons to follow!

Fantastic photos. Just last night, I saw a very small boat for sale and thought of your loon setup! Always a joy to see your photos of the loons!

Such an elegant photograph with such beautiful soft colours and that lovely reflection.
Those Loon chicks are adorable and were well worth your journey and the wait for their arrival.

Thanks for your comments. This was a absolutely still morning, so lots of nice water/reflections to be had.
