Well it worked fine originally on a 24-85 but a few weeks later " AF fine tune not available at this autofocus setting"..all lenses produced this .
U tube videos just said check your settings. In the end I did a two button reset and it worked perfect .Changed nothing from my normal settings not even turning off the VR. Half press on the release in LV then movie/AF and OK when instructed.
Hope this helps if /when it happens to you.

You need to have both the live view focus on single center point and the viewfinder AF on single center point.

Yes had both on single point when it did not work but thanks for the comment.

EDIT: What I meant to say is when you get the above noted error message when fine tuning and the settings otherwise look OK, exit LV, move the AF point away from centre using the multi-funcition pad, then back to centre by pressing the multi-function centre button, then return to LV. This resets the AF mechanism.

When it's too dark, or the subject is not right in front of the camera, it will give the same 'error' message.
