Title: SB-21 Adapter rings?

Is it necessary to try and get the nikon SB-21 adapter rings, or can something else be used?

You are well advised to get the original rings. In an emergency one can use step rings, but the grip to the ring flash is not secure.

Stepping rings will work, get a better quality one.

Or you may use non-permanent threadlocker paste if that really worries you.
