Title: An autumn day
Post by: David Paterson on October 20, 2018, 11:03:15
A narrow and extremely bad road goes up to a reservoir in the hills south of here. It's one of my favourite locations in the area around Killin.

1. Hills above Glen Dochart
2. The Ben Lawers / Ben Ghlas range

Bad road -> Excellent photos

Surely something to ponder there

Beautiful with the light in/on the hills.  Lovely Painterly light in #1

I'm not sure that they correlate all that well, but possibly, after braving the atrocious road, I am ready to work hard at gathering a few decent images. So that I don't need to use that road again for a while.   :)

Thanks to John, Bent and Nikkor Shooter for your generous comments.

Thanks to … and Nikkor Shooter for your generous comments.

If I said anything that infuriates or pleases you,
it's because you deserve it, IMO. My only aim is
to offer the best I can with the experience I have.

:P

Except I'll be there soon and my experience is that your car likes that road better than mine :D
Great light, I light both but the first in particular.

Did we go up there before? You know I have forgotten that   :-\  and the road gets worse all the time. But with luck - early Nov - there might be some snow on the tops; fingers crossed.

Last time we didn't make it to the top because of snow, there was an interesting about face at some point with me giving you instructions on how not to end in a ditch.

Ah! Now I remember - what I needed was a set of winter tyres, but like most people in Scotland, I don't have any.  I have been stopped on at least two other occasions from getting up there.

The first one looks gorgeously dramatic!  Love the lighting and gradation nicely diffused by the mist.

Beautiful late afternoon colours, especially in #1 - my favorite.

I like the evening mists forming in the valley in #1, hinting at  a cold night ahead...

Thank you, Akira and Mike.  #1 is very much my own favourite too, and I've been trying to get this shot for quite a few years  - late afternoon lighting, slightly hazy atmosphere and autumn colours in the landscape. I think I've cracked it at last.
