I would love to hear more about this lens, especially on a Df.... Do tell more!

For me the AF is problematic, especially in low light.
This applicable form Df as well as my D810.
The rendering and booked is great.

I use this lens mainly to photograph my granddaughter. As she hardly ever sit still I have a lot of misses.

Not by NG, but I suspect that Flickr is compressing the alternate file sizes.

So it's best to upload to Flickr in the resolution intended for sharing and hotlink to the original file and not one of the smaller versions Flickr generates.

Do others share this experience, that the AF is problematic in low light? Is that because you are shooting wide open and so the AF struggles, or some other reason?

Thanks,
Rob.

I have found the 58 1.4 G AF to be similar to the 24 1.4 G, 35 1.4 G and 85 1.4 G in terms of AF -- deliberate and, with the D810, accurate. I struggled with AF with these lenses with the D800, but they shine on the D810.  No issues here.

I have managed to find a reasonably priced 58G and will be divesting my Tammy 24-70 in its favour.
As a replacement for the Tammy I have a dodgy Nikkor 24-70 which I will tamper into service again.
The 58 lands this Sun or Mon 😊

"Tamper into service" is my new favorite English expression.
