- Open the pod bay doors, HAL.
- I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

This shot suggests a mixture of HAL's eye and HAL's view of what 'he' saw. Do you suspect the architects were thinking of 2001?

Stanley Kubrik was someone who has influenced most of us.
Cool Capture

Thanks.
The image is the ceiling of a foyer (one of many entrances) of a villa that used to house both the head office and the residence of the president of a cotton mill. It was built in 1934. The villa is nowadays divided into about two dozen smaller offices ranging from barber shops to software companies to a ballet school. The cotton mill burned in 1981 in an industrial fire that still is the largest ever in Finland. The villa survived intact but the factory was decomissioned.
I shot the ceiling with a circular fisheye.

Very nice idea, Peter!
I think some folk here in NG said that Hal's eye in "2001" was actually one of Nikon fisheye lenses lit in red from its rear...

imagine if the center of the ceiling had a red lamp :)
great title and image
