Title: Turkeys
Post by: Kuri on April 12, 2018, 11:19:59
These are wild turkeys. There are too many of them around my house.
I apologize if I have posted this picture already.
D810, 200-500mm VR.
This was shot in the rain, you can see some falling against the background in places.

Kuri:

Very strong sense of their environment, like the soft light from the rain, nice rendering of the background, rain drops add.

In a perfect world, perhaps a slightly less obstructed view of the bird on the right, but of course, this is often what we see in reality.

Cheers

Randy

I am always bewildered to see these special creatures!
In your picture, esp. the right one reminds me strongly that birds are direct descendents of Dinosaurs!

PS: I love the rain in the picture. I love to shoot, when it rains in general!

I don't remember if I have ever seen a wild turkey.  The rain adds a nice backdrop!  Thank you for sharing!

It is easy for me to imagine these birds as giant 10 meter tall monsters crashing through a low forest.

Thank you for the comments everyone. I really do like the D810, and the 200-500mm RV lens.  That combination works very nice for me in regular visual.
I am a full spectrum nut, so I don't do a lot of visual...
I have used a Nikon TC-14E II (1.4 teleconverter), with the 200-500mm lens, and it seems to work very well.
I don't know if there is any better difference in using the newer III version, but their might be.
