D850! 24-120 @ 24mm. Mauna Loa is in the background.

I like the composition (including the choice of aspect ratio) plus you have handled the extreme brightness range of the scene in an honest way.
-
I like the way you render the harsh environment.
Maybe I would have liked to include the foreground (in front of the almost-dead plant) a little more, but that's just me.

Looks more like new growth than almost dead to me. Whichever it is, it makes for a good image.

Ron:
Nice wide angle perspective. Like the flowering growth, with the dead branches at its feet.
Might have tried a version, moving a few feet to the right when taking it, to reposition the bush in relationship to the background a bit more to the left. I like to work the scene for different interpretations.
Cheers

Hi Ron, I like the perspective here.
Just curious: was it on the desert road in the North Island of New Zealand?

Thank you everyone.
This location is on the Big Island of Hawaii. The mountain in the background is an active volcano. Elevation is around 5,000 feet.
