Title: Winter Walking in Cyprus
Post by: Les Olson on February 17, 2018, 17:15:26
Cyprus in winter is warm - 18-20 degrees - and dry, as long as you avoid the higher altitudes of the Troodos mountains, and we have just a week walking in the north-west, around the Laona plateau and the Akamas peninsula.  The Akamas was used by the British as a military firing range, and it is as close to wilderness as Europe gets.  The walking is undemanding, the scenery is typically Mediterranean - at this time the almond trees and wildflowers are in blossom - and the food and wine are cheap and excellent.
