. . . . lots of it, though it's gone now after 2 days of mild winds and heavy rain.
All taken within 1km of our house.

Nice winter scenery, Dave. Short longevity of snow seems to be the new normality.
Recently we got more than 1 m of wet snow dumped over us. Weather soon thereafter changed to milder and now it's raining, but the deposited snowpack was so massive that it'll take more than a few days of rain to remove it.

Beautiful light & landscape. I recognize it all

Glad to see your post, Dave! Love the majestic woods and mountains. The glowing trunk in the second-last image is a gem.
According to the forecast, the temperature will go down to -3 degree Celsius here in Tokyo, which would be the coldest since 1970! The snow fallen the day before is still there.

it looks like fairy tale images. nice set

Thank you all - Bjørn, Frank, Akira, Elsa and Armando - I'm very glad you still like Scottish scenery. :)

We have also been experiencing short-stay snow for quite a few years but this recent snowfall was on the ground for 12 days which is unusually long in Scotland in this new weather behaviour. We had a total of around 40cm of snow over 48 hours - light, dry lovely powder snow - which compacted down to about 24cm, formed a hard crust but remained powder below. During the 12 days there was a lot of extremely dull, dark weather and I was lucky to grab the two opportunities which did happen.

What's NOT to like about Scotland ???

Very nice light! Lovely ;)

Thanks, Erik.
Bjørn - it seems pretty well perfect to me but perhaps you should ask someone who is English? 8)

Dare I mention midges? ;D In summer of course!

Ah, midges, the dear wee beasties - a miracle of modern micro-engineering by the Scottish Tourist Board, and designed to ensure that at least some of the visitors actually do go home. Otherwise we'd be having to round up thousands of stay-behinds every week and bus them to the border. ::) ;D
