Dallas Against White Supremacy Rally - City Hall - Dallas, Texas - August 19, 2017
As in many other cities throughout the United States, a rally was held in downtown Dallas- partly to stand in solidarity with the citizens of Charlottesville and to demand removal of a Confederate Civil War memorial in Pioneer Park, which is directly across from City Hall.
This shot shows the Confederate memorial being guarded by police.

Several counter protesters confront those who want the memorial removed. The man in the left frame is shouldering a rifle.

A counter protester marches into the rally waving a Confederate battle flag. He is quickly surrounded and eventually escorted out of the rally by the police.

Thanks Rick.
-
It's not too late to choose love <3
Thank you, once again!
-
Yes, not too late to love. Thanks for documenting, sharing.
-
These images are fine depictions of different sides. Apparently they are trying to act in a calm way. Hopefully the demonstration continued as depicted.
-
Not too late to love but not likely, not from either side. I have grave concerns for the survival of a democratic republic.
-
Greatly documented, Rick.
-
I want to thank everyone who took the time to view the photos and for leaving comments.
-
Great documentary
Love the love image, and the very serious expressionless face of the lady holding the sign
-
Good stuff, as usual Rick.
Just curious about the fellow in photo no.4 holding a Confederate flag in one hand and a set of golf clubs in the other.

I love your work. The last two are my favourites. The separation and expression is superb.
-
Rick:
I have always admired your work (both the photographs and your commentaries) and this series is of the same very high quality.
-
Well captured! Very powerful indeed
-
Thanks for all of the comments.
Robert, I actually spoke to the gentleman waving the Confederate flag and I asked him about the golf clubs. I told me that he brought them along for self defense. As the Wicked Witch of the West was known to say, "What a world, what a world....

Rick,
Of course. There are varying degrees of self-defense to be obtained based on which club one chooses to employ, hence the need for a full set rather than just one.

I was trying to understand what would one need to be thinking to bring golf clubs for self defense when I read your comment and this made me LOL!
-
I would love to get some of those statues to put in my yard, it's so boring now.
-
I don't know, Ron, surely there are other statues you could find for your yard? 8)
-
Fascinating reading their signs and looking at their faces in the context. Your images are usually an experience - great stuff as always.
-
Thanks for the comments, Mongo.
By the way, has anyone heard from Ron. He lives in the Houston area.
-
Ron is abroad at present. His house is flooded according to reports.
