Title: Clean and simple
Post by: RBSinTo on August 06, 2017, 18:16:20
Taken a few years ago downtown, here in Toronto.
A photobud and I were shooting a railway caboose that had been reincarnated as part of a restaurant when I noticed a staircase to a building entrance, and liking the unclutered, colourful composition, grabbed this shot.
motorized Nikon F2AS
Nikkor 105 2.5 AI manual focus
Fuji Sensia II 100 ISO colour slide
5.6 @ 1/1000th

The average laptop monitor(of which I own an example and on which I first saw this shot ) does not reproduce these colors.  Now that I've seen it on a color-correct monitor, it's great!

Another winner! I love the simple pattern vivid color!

I really like the little bit of purple along the bottom as an accent. I don't really like the bottom right corner; perhaps cropping a little off the right edge to get rid of the dark square thing would be an improvement?  Keeping the end of the railing in the frame in the top left is a good move; otherwise it might be hard to guess what you were looking at since it is so vibrantly colored.

Keith /Carl /James,
Thanks for commenting.
James,
The dark square you referred to is a step. I deliberately left it in to help anchor the composition, and add another bit of asymmetry to it.

Upon further reflection, that is probably a good idea. It has a touch of purple on it, too, that is nice.
