Title: A quiet moment in the reed bed - common loon
Post by: Randy Stout on July 14, 2017, 03:39:14
This adult was imaged on a small lake, near the shore, amongst the reeds.  A bit of a challenge to get a clear shot at the subject, without the reeds in the way, but can give some extra texture and interest to the background when it works out.

D500  600VR ISO 500 f/7.1  1/1250s

Taken from my little boat, the Loonie Too!

Advice and comments always appreciated

Randy

Both for the closeness to the subject and the clarity, this is better than seeing the bird with the naked eye!

I like the character of the background. This adds to the image for me as it puts the bird in its habitat (more than just the water around it).  All of your loon shots have so much detail on the birds and nice framing!

Fantastic image, the background does make it stand out over the ones with nothing else but water

Superb, I love it and wish I could make images like this myself.
