I have the opportunity to try out the 105e 1.4 today. On sale from a very reputable place for 1900€ It was love at first sight. I can´t believe the magic this lens packs inside.
I love it
Oh my 8)
All shots at 1.4
-
I bought it last year as my Christmas present. Pure magic. All the time. I shot a few hundreds today with it. This time on the D500. All with f/1.4. Too much holiday preparation and work on my house and a three hour good bye show at my daughter's Kindergarten kept me from even looking at the results. But my wife is just hitting the feathers and I could post some here. I paid 1865€ on 7 Dec 2016 shipped to my door by amazon.co.uk. no marketplace item. Amazon corporate. Genuine European stuff.

please stop that, I might experience another bout of GAS

Do not buy this. Or your results might become even better than they already are and we will all be ashamed of our mediocre utterings (bursting into laughter). It is just another piece of glass. Why get emotional?

PS. The fifth is my fav
-
The lens is from a real store, Nikon Spain original product. It is a big mall with locations all over the country that normally has a little more expensive items with excellent customer service. They have a summer sale. Non of the "pro" equipment enter the offer but this one.
Airy, I´m sorry. 8) I will not lie. Don´t try it.

Airy, sorry to say, but the lens seems to be perfect for your current project. (oh, I miss that emoticon of devil...)
-
Has anyone try it for IR?
-
Yes. It works.
-
Thanks Bjørn

My favourite is the dancing hand...

A wonderful series of shots. Any complaints of this lens would just be nit-picking. It seems comparable to the Zeiss 135/2.
-
Lovely shots. With little or no performance falloff away from center, it looks like you can compose all the way to the sides while wide open. Very useful.
-
You can. It is impressive. A joy to use without worries.
-
Just to show this lens capability also in IR:
1: Unicorn at f1.4 through a window
2. Streetlamp at f1.8. Crazy amount of detail
3. Window at f2.8 more of the same
4. Is it coming? at f4
Extra sharp at any aperture and no hotspots so far with a d5300 and 830nm filter from lifepixel.
