A soothing image for us in the Arizona desert looking at probably 120˚ today.  ;)

Ron:

Great sense of depth from all the leading lines, atmospheric haze.  Looks like a fun road for a motorcycle or sports car.

Cheers

Randy

Great shot of one of my favourite spots on one of my favourite roads. PCH has some of the loveliest views an oceanside road can have. Absolutely beats the pants of the Oregon Coast.

I was looking forward to riding it again on my trip to Laguna Seca next month but California's coast road has suffered from heavy winter rains. There is a bridge out in Big Sur, about 20 km to the south, a series of landslides further south have closed off much of this scenic route:http://www.sanluisobispo.com/news/local/article152222417.html (http://www.sanluisobispo.com/news/local/article152222417.html)

+1

I am sure that you're disappointed, along with countless others that love that road and the views that it provides, which includes me. Truth be told, it's a very unstable area, and has suffered slides for a very long time. I have not heard any talk of people being caught in, as in buried in, this million ton slide, but that remains a possibility, and has to be on the mind of all that travel that road. Yet another thrill that one might encounter on Hwy 1.  ;)

Thank you gentlemen.  There were some out there in sports cars, mainly rented Camaro convertibles with big V8 motors.  The road closure was about 10 miles south of this point, in an area surrounded by redwoods.

Hwy1 is a horror to drive because a lot of people use it who simply do not know how to drive a car properly.

But

The scenery is really great and a lot of nice places to visit on the way.

Thank you Frank.  There is less traffic there now because of the road closure about 10 south of where the photo was taken.
