Just idly looking at an iPad app called Red Shift an aid to astronomy enthusiasts, up popped this screen. Quite a conjunction, just a shame I couldn't see it in real life as it was too cloudy!

Nice to hear from you, Mike. I'm also getting very interested in the night sky but I don't use an iPhone riPad so apps like this one are not available to me. I'll have to find out if something similar is available for my laptop.

Thanks Dave, on my iMac I use an app called "SkySafari Plus, but I'm not sure what sort of Laptop you are using?
Now that I'm getting better after the nasties are hopefully over, I have been lurking around here in the meantime!

Android has something called Skymap, it works fairly well.
This together with a PC program called Stellarium, night shooting can be planned in advance and have a higher possibility of being a success.
