This male pintail was the first and only one I have seen in my area. Sitting on the ice at our local bird sanctuary.
D4 600VR f/5.0 ISO 1250 1/1000s fill flash to give a bit of pop
Advice and comments always appreciated .
Cheers

This is a lovely picture of a Northern Pintail, one of my favorite ducks. The feathering is striking and you captured the fine details of the bird in every regard. It's unusual for me to see a duck sitting on the ice but it makes the picture more pleasing because of it. Usually when the ice arrives in these parts, the ducks head south or out to open water.

Lovely!

I'd be inclined to augment the catch lights in the eye every so slightly.
It makes my feet feel cold just thinking about it.

Lovely character well presented. Minimalist in concept. The beak“s reflections caught my attention.

Beautiful, bird, colours and detail.

What a beaut and a great capture

A beautiful capture of an exquisite bird!

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and comments. They are truly spectacular birds. I have a few shots of him standing, which also shows him well, but the sitting pose really caught my eye.

Dig those fine patterns in the markings.
The brown duck and blue field go well together.
