A couple of weeks ago I was most fortunate to add this very special lens to my 55mm f/1.2 collection.
With serial #970120 makes it the 10th lens to roll off the production line, from way back in 1964.

I am going to make an overhaul article of that lens next month :o :o :o
the 55mm is a very big prime by Nikon's standards ::)
it is pretty sharp on 14MP but shows it's age on 24MP cameras. I will make a comparo of that in a future article.

One of the easiest Nikkors to work on.
I look forward to the article.
Bloody hard to focus at f/1.2 and really crazy bokeh.
The background at f/1.2 makes it seem like the lens is tripping-out on acid man ;D

it is very dreamy :o :o :o

It even comes with the silica gel with logo ;) Congratulation!

wow! didn't notice that :o :o :o
I threw the one that I got before from my Nikkor-P

BTW I use an toothbrush to gently clean the engraved markings, just a few drops of water and a soft cloth, works wonders especially the aperture values tend to get quite dirty over time,,, :)

A great find! Congrats, Ron!
Apparently a previous owner tried to do a bit sloppy DIY job to retouch the black paint around the edge of the rear element or inside the mount. :)

Perhaps it would need a stay in an oven after more than an half century ! ;D
Very nice piece of glass, by the way. I love the shape of the focusing ring.
I have got the 1974 version , according Roland Wink work, which was nicely AIed by the seller. Near mint condition.
I love using it with my Df. :D

Even the original desiccant pack! Wonder if it still works :P
I remember seeing an entire college of 55/1.2 lenses and I did save the photo. Not sure if I can post it or not. It included every 55/1.2 iteration and in addition the small leather lens case.

Here's my copy and the serial is 193640. According to photosynthesis, it seems like one of the later Nikkor-S models. Mine came with the factory AI update though.
