Very nice generous composition. Why not colour?

Thanks for your kind comment.
There were brightly coloured objects in the background and although they were rendered out of focus I found them distracting, hence I prefer the mood
of the b&w version.
-
B&W suits it, since it's not the "traditional" side view or head on.
I really like it, but would crop off a bit of the left side, as to give more feeling about the turn he just went through.
-
Yes crop a little of the left side, for more impact. Very clean look

Great image Tony, really like the wide crop in combination with the butter smooth background of the 400/2.8.
Was at the MotoGP training last Thursday myself but didn't bring any camera, got a fun snap with the iPhone though of my dad coping with the noise :P

Thanks for your comments guys, will re-visit and work on an alternative crop. :)
Jan Anne,
What is it with dads and noise? lol.
That's a great capture, one for the family album for sure!

The eye expects the biker to be at the a one thirds line, by position him closer to the left edge you add drama by suggesting he barely made the corner :)
-
Tony:
B&W for sure with all the cars in the background!
I agree about cropping from left.
Really like the shadow line running diagonally across the track
What class of bikes?
Cheers
Randy

perfect focus I like how the rider is still leaning (after coming out of the corner ? )
-
Thanks for your comments guys, the suggested crop does work, actually it's how I'd normally crop such an image, was just trying to
be different for a change.
Randy,
Thanks for your comment.
The class was 700cc & 1300cc streetstocks, essentially Honda cbr600's,Kawasaki zx6r's, Kawasaki zx10's, Yamaha R1's etc,etc.
The shadow line was caused by the drying track, there had been some rain though the dry line is clearly evident.
Have included an example of how I'd normally crop such an image, admittedly I wouldn't normally put the bike horizontally in the centre of the frame either.

I prefer the second crop. Really a great image - I wish I could achieve those results.
-
Both are good, but i also like the 2nd one more, much more impact (on me anyway).
-
Great subject isolation, by all counts (focus, contrast, density...). I prefer the original, because there's more space. We seldom see race pics where the racer seems to be alone and free, a welcome change.
