Title: Fox and Hounds
Post by: ArthurDent on January 02, 2017, 17:26:50
I took this image on an overcast day, 1/2000 sec at f/2.8. D7000 body and 70-200 f/2.8 lens at 70mm.

A dynamic image, captures the action.

The image certainly conveys action. However, purists will react to the rough rendering of the foreground and complain about disturbing greenery sticking into the frame.

The intended target for the picture determines its success rate. Good stuff for a local newspaper, however probably not the winner in a competition in the local photo club.

I would crop some off the bottom.

The fore and rear foliage are detractors, its proportional presence draws the eye from the the main subject that is nicely captured, the knobbly tyres are defined, and the sense of chase is present.

I don't agree with the cropping suggestions.  The foliage gives a real feeling of being actually there, lying in wait for the action at the jump.  It also give a sense of depth.  There are lots of images of motor bikes in the air, this gives context and a feeling of being a spectator at the event.

That's also how I felt about the image. That said, I appreciate the other comments as well. Thanks to all who commented on the image.
