Title: Curlew, Dunlin and Shelducks
Post by: John G on December 29, 2016, 09:06:16
More from Snettisham RSPB Reserve.
The images are from my first visit to the Reserve and on my first day of using my recently purchased 400mm f2.8G. I have done a few garden test shots before this outing to the coast.
The lens was used naked and coupled to a TC17e ii.
The closest subjects are the Dunlin at about 70 - 90 metres, the Curlew is 100+ metres and the shelducks are 150 - 200 metres.
I have learnt from this trip that the tripod I have is not designed for these weights and a change of support is required.
I have a ongoing DIY Tripod project, I will describe it in another thread.

Hi Elsa,
at the moment it is a blessing to have the time to use the 400mm, the enjoyment is getting to a few different locations.
There are many new things to be worked out, to bring the best out of this set up. NG will be a great guide through the journey.

I am glad you are making the time (or finding it!) Nothing like a new piece of equipment to get the juices going.
