Title: Scenes from the High Line, NYC
Post by: Mikes on December 14, 2016, 00:56:14
The High Line is a long-disused elevated freight line (West Side Line) running through the Meatpacking District and Chelsea that has been converted into a walkway park.

Much of the area through which it runs features disused factories and run down tenement buildings that are rapidly making way for commercial and residential development. It is a peaceful escape from the chaos and noise of the massive construction projects around it.

It has been extensively replanted with species that took over the line after its abandonment.

beautiful segments of life

Thanks, Armando. The High Line really is an oasis!

Thanks, Eric - calmness above, chaos below. This is 10th Avenue at around 4.30pm, as seen from the High Line. Non stop honking of horns!

I applaud the idea for reconverting the line. Your images show definitely a place to visit and enjoy.

Last posted one works very well for me.

Pleasingly melancholic late autumn scene.

The last image looks like a nice reminder of the second last one in the original series.

Thanks Akira. Not only melancholic but cooold. Just above freezing in some of those shots.

The last image looks like a nice reminder of the second last one in the original series.

Well seen! I completely missed this. You have a good eye.
