Hello from Stillwater, Minnesota.
I joined a few weeks ago, and have lurked more than played at this point. I finally dipped my toe into the NikonGear site with a comment about the 200-500VR lens yesterday and thought I should introduce myself.
I am a former researcher (ecological studies of pelagic seabirds and monarch butterflies), and have been a high school biology teacher for the past 25 years. I am an avid traveler, hiker and watcher of nature. My photography originally supported my research in the 1980's, and became an integral part of my life since that time.
While I once loved to document what I saw in the field, I now lean towards a more "artistic" interpretation of the natural world with bent towards conservation and education.
I have been blogging since 2008 (I think) with over 500 blog posts but am relatively anonymous within a huge sea of photo-bloggers.
Thanks to the crew here at NikonGear, as I think that this site is an oasis in an otherwise noisy world.
cheers,
bruce
