Back in my favourite country for a short holiday in the last of the summer sun.
This time I am in Sardinia, a region I had not visited before. It was time to remedy this gap.
I'll be updating this thread as I slowly go through my numerous images - too busy having a good time here, so I expect this will continue well after my return home.
Before I move on to the holiday proper, a couple of images of how my day starts. This is the life...

Simone, you just continue following your dreams :)

Actually, a wave covering the lens as I was shooting "amphibian" style with the AW1.

Thank you Frank!
We'll surely meet again.

The first day was quite stormy and I went to explore the reef at the headland.
All the images I am posting have next to no processing and I am not sure how colours will look because I am working away from home on a small laptop with uncalibrated monitor.

my favourite image with the girl
-
Colors look phantastic on all of my machines. Keep them coming!
Sardegna, Sardegna. Have to get back to you.
All shots I took there were in film times.
-
colour looks good to me
it is a good series showing the landscape, and making me think how many places I have not seen....
I am for the girl with the chairs - this picture is great

Simone, Simone, Simone 8)
You know the images are great whenever you feel the need to go there :)
-
Thank you all.
The little girl is my daughter, her 4th birthday came yesterday.
The terrace belongs to the house we are renting, from there we go down the stairs to the garden and from there to the beach.
Pure bliss.
-
Congratulations to your daughter. My little girl will be six soon. Time flies. The son ist 15 already!
-
Mari Ermi.
This is the name of a phenomenal beach a few km from our place.
A blindingly white beach of rice grain sized quartz sand, bordered by a turquoise sea.
I was entranced by the sand.
The water was clear and warm, I just did not want to leave.
-
Hello Simone,
I can see why you would not want to leave ...the sand looks like a pile of jewels.
So jealous I want to be there!
Cheers
-
That's beautiful. The sand is very fascinating; nature's jewel-box

I'm sure we will catch up soon, it is destiny ....the location is unimportant :-)

Cheers Bez, I haven't heard from you for a while, thanks for the comment.
It was my first time in Sardinia, I loved it and so did the rest of my family so it is likely we'll go back.
Strongly recommended!

A few nightscapes.
No Northern Lights here, but a fairly deep, clear sky, a gentle breeze and about 20 degC temperature :)
The discerning eye will clearly the the Starry Plough in the last image.
-
Simone, these are beautiful nightscapes with the calm water reflecting the starry sky and star trails...
-
My favourite is the precious sand still
-
First the pebble son the beach and now the night skies...
You are a very versatile photographer Simone :)
Sardinia is rated high n my travel list thanks to you!
-
A wonderful versatile pictorial series! Beautiful and consistent high quality ;)
-
Thank you all for your comments.
And now some sunset shots from "my" terrace on the beach.
All the images are Jpeg SOOC.
-
Close-ups on the dunes at our doorstep, whilst waiting for my wife to call me for dinner from the terrace :)
Fuji X-T1 and Nikkor 200/4 AIS.
-
Very interesting wild bee soecimen!!!
Love to see more of these

Thanks Frank.
I've got more - different - stuff to show (still sorting) so stay tuned :)
-
Beautiful series Simone. Great combination of landscape, night-scape and close-ups.
My fav is still the first shot in the opening post. You know very well how to set the mood!
Thanks for sharing.
-
Some beautiful images Simone!
I love the beach sand and the star photos after them.
It seems that a camera bag must always include a macro lens!
Thank you
-
Thanks Anirban and Peter for the comments.
More - different - shots from the mud flats. The region is full of shallow, brackish lakes, lagoons and mud flats.
In other parts there are resident flamingos but I did not have the chance to go. Next time...
-
Tharros.
A narrow peninsula with a rocky tip at the southern edge of the Sinis.
The open waters of the West Med on one side, the calm waters of the Oristano Gulf on the other.
Bordered by beautiful beaches and a lagoon.
Host of a 3000-year old city.
A magical place.
-
Simone, the place is truly magical. To see the two different waters on either side of the peninsula is amazing!
