The atmosphere of the scene here is beautifully mellow and relaxed, yet crisply defined with lots of detail. Where in the world would we go to observe this watering hole?

The watering hole is about 140 kms from Melbourne Australia. On a dirt road near the Strathbogie Ranges
Beautiful country for farming.

That looks like a wonderful place to be.

I think the haze adds to the image, nevertheless I think it would be a good choice for testing the new de-haze tool in Lightroom.

I am looking at this several times now and I still cannot put my finger on it. There are parts of the scene I really like, the backlit cows in the (late afternoon?) light, the reflections of the animals, the overall colour scape, the trees...

.. then there is the shadow in the empty part front left. I feel you should really cut that out and the house....

...all this an emotional reaction, not a thorough analysis. This works for me:

I agree with Erik in this case. The house and the mountains added to the image.

I feel the image of the scene could be much better if it would have been taken from a different perspective.

This could have been taken at a different  angle if i climbed over two barbed wire fences. This didn't appeal to me.

I know that situation, esp. if you suspect dogs on the other side or bulls. Both can be a pain in the a** literally.
